~Katrina's POV~
It had been weeks since Carver freed Kat from her death sentence, she had lost count of the exact days, however despite her time here she didn't feel a part of the clan...
She now knew almost everyone, there was Astrid who if you needed poison you went to her. There was Vilkas the clans best hunter, who always returned to camp with plenty of game, little Cotter, the eight year old son of Ysolda and Will, who was always found high up in a tree... how he got up there no one knew. Finally there was Bronn the elder, who would share tales of woe and adventure around the fire at night. They were kind people, and sometimes managed to make her forget her worries. Her execution, the Queen... but she did wonder constantly of the Starks. Was Bran awake? Was Sansa safe? Was Arya behaving? Guilt swept through her as she thought of all the lies she span them... and everything she never told them.
I wonder if I'll ever see them again...
"OI!"
Kat jumped as she was pulled out of her thoughts, "W-what?" She stammered, quickly clutching onto the trunk of a nearby tree.
A light chuckle sounded by her."Sorry... you looked a little dazed"
Kat adjusted her eyes to see Cullen, another friend she had made, leaning against another tree looking at her.
"Oh sorry, it's fine. I'm fine" She forced on a smile.
"Course you are dreamy, because staring at a tree for a solid ten minutes is just fine"
Katrina scratched her nose, embarrassed. It was late, and she had abandoned the campfire to take a walk to clear her mind. Clearly Cullen had come looking for her.
"Come on dreamy, you'll freeze out here"
It was rather chilly now he mentioned it, so she returned to camp with him to find most of the clan asleep, curled up around the dying embers of the fire.
"So, was that tree just really interesting or were you dreaming again?" Cullen smirked, gently tucking a blanket around Cotter.
"Just thinking" Kat shrugged, "I've got a lot on my mind"
"That means trouble. Come on what is it?"
She hesitated, but then asked herself where the harm was in opening up a little. "I was just thinking of my old home, and everyone I left behind"
"The Starks you mean?" His green eyes creased with curiosity.
"Peter too"
"Peter?"
"He was Robb's squire, my best friend"
Cullen nodded silently, poking the dying fire with the tip of his boot. "Sounds like you've got a lot of people thinking of you right now"
A smile tugged at her lips, as Katrina absentmindedly began to twirl her wolf charm between her fingers, it was a little comfort in a habit that she didn't realise she had.
"I miss them" She admitted, "Terribly"
Cullen sighed, running one hand through his hair as Kat realised he was searching for something to say.
"Kat, you have to leave your past behind. This is your new life now!" He pointed firmly at the ground. "Forget all these nobles, you're one of us. Not a bloody Stark"
She felt a little hurt at his words, and she felt tears rim her icy eyes. LThis necklace says differently" she whispered almost to herself as she gazed upon the little silver wolf.
