"He's right in there..." She panted, our eyes locked upon the hut.
"I don't know what to do" I whispered, "I don't know what to say to him..."
"We have to take care of his father first" Kat spat venomously, "Come on"
Marching towards the hut, Kat kicked down the door with all the force she had. The wood flew, splintering as the door caved in. "Come out come out wherever you are!" she called, running into the kitchen.
The closer I got to the idea of seeing him the more desperate I became. "Hunter?" I called out, my heart pounding. I couldn't wait to see him, to hold him. The thought of him made me ache... gods let him be alright.
A figure ran out to appear in the doorway, with heavy eyes and creased clothes. His posture became rigid and stiff as his eyes washed over Katrina.
"Warren!" Kat smiled, opening up her arms. "It's been so long, did we wake you?". His eyes widened, "How in seven hells did you-"
I marched forward, grasping Warren by the collar of his shirt I threw him up against the wall with all my force. "Where is he?" I cried out desperately, "Where is Hunter?"
"Calm down Seb" Kat spoke softly, pulling me back. "He would never have sent him away. He just can't survive without him. But he will tell us where he is". I watched her slowly draw out a think knife from her belt, "I'll make sure of it"
"Father?"
I froze in my movements, and I felt Katrina do the same. A thin smile crossed Warrens face.
"Father! Are you there!"
"Hunter! Help! Hurry son!"
Hunters voice. It sent shivers down my spine... yet something wasn't right here. Why did they sound so concerned for each other? What would I say to him? But then all of a sudden, there he was. Hunter. He stood panting in the space where his front door used to be, a string of dead rabbits tied to his belt and a bow in his hand. His cold eyes darted quickly around the room to find the danger. Then his eyes locked on Kat.
"Look at what she's done son! Broke into our house and attacked me! You told me this girl was good? I didn't lay a finger on her, it was her decision to leave!"
"What!" She shook her head desperately at Hunter, who now had an arrow knocked in his bow. "Hunter you can't think that I'd leave you here! He sold me out! I've been a slave for weeks I-"
"Lies! Hunter, kill her!"
"As fucking if!" She scoffed, yet when I looked back at Hunter, his arrow was aimed at Katrina. I faltered, no sound coming out of my mouth. I didn't understand... what was wrong with him?
"Very good son!" Warren praised, "Just like I taught you!"
I stared deeply into Hunters eyes. Wide and filled with pure fear, he knew that if he didn't obey his father, he would be punished severely.
"Hunter, don't"
I took a hesitant step towards Hunter, who looked at me with pure shock. I don't think he had even realised I was in the room, and my missing eye probably wasn't a welcoming sight. Having his eyes on me, it almost took away my train of thought.
"Hunter don't do this... he's tricking you"
"Freckles?"
A sigh of happiness escapes me as he called me that. Gods had I missed it. Yet I barley dared to breathe as I extended me hand, "It's me Hunter, it's me"
