"You know that play is a tragedy right?" I told Mangoo, "Nearly everyone dies in the end?"
"Yep." Mangoo said, popping the P at the end.
"Pretty bad for morale, no?"
"That is not my problem."
"You're our negotiator though!" I yelped.
"Fritz needs to take the lead on this one, I just need to vouch for his mental stability. After all, I don't think we'd like being stuck with each other until death do us part."
"Point taken."
"Yeah, a few months around him and you'll want to wring his neck." Fritz grumbled. Mangoo made a childish noise while sticking his tongue out at Fritz.
"We have to get back in there, our time runs out soon." He said. Once again Mangoo sauntered arrogantly into the council room. Some of the council members visibly tensed when we entered the room. Mangoo tilted his head to the side and gave what I thought looked like a psychotic grin.
"We, specifically Fritz, would like to claim the human and he would like to take responsibility for her actions while in this pocket."
"We granted your request for a recess to give us a reason for why we should allow this."
"Does she have to be here for this? May I escort her to a waiting room?" Mangoo said.
"I suppose she does not." The old man said.
"Huh?" I said as Mangoo gently grabbed my arm and led me into the hallway.
"Shh." He whispered.
"Why do I have to leave?"
"So Fritz can think straight and not make a fool out of himself. The secondary reason is that they may think you're using the bind to control his mind."
"But-"
"Stay in that room right there," He said, pointing to a small room connected to the hallway. I looked back, but he had run back into the big room. I took a seat on a red plush sofa and looked around the red themed room. Through the thick wooden doors I could hear Mangoo's voice, still trumpeting though it was muffled. Fritz's voice was more muffled. I couldn't understand a word they were saying.
I heard Mangoo snap three words, the following silence worried me.
The doors swung open a few minutes later and Mangoo strutted arrogantly out of the council building. Fritz walked a bit slower and pulled me out along with him. Once outside, Mangoo helped us get back to Fritz's house.
"So?" I asked once we had arrived.
"They granted our request!" Fritz said happily.
"Was there ever any doubt?" Mangoo said.
"Yes." Fritz and I said.
"You wound me."
"Hardly," Fritz said, smiling."Geez, i'm going to go get drunk so I can forget your ungratefulness." Mangoo said and vanished.
"Did you hurt his feelings?" I asked.
"Nope."
"Alright, if you say so."
"Oh and Nora?"
"Yes?"
"Welcome to your new home."
