"I just got word from Mangoo, the binders have revealed themselves and are posturing to attack." Fritz said.

I looked at Fritz sadly. In the short time that we had known each other we had grown close. I would sorely miss all his snarky comments and Mangoo's cockiness. However, I believed that this was the right thing to do for the greater good. I hate making a decision for three whole races of people but I don't want a large scale magical war.

"What do we have to do to activate it?" I mumbled.

"We need a bowl... And three knives..."

I ran to Mangoo's kitchen and retrieved a large blue bowl and a couple filet knives. When I showed them to Fritz, he grinned tightly and gestured to the floor. I set the items down and sat next to them.

"We're doing this now?" Liana whimpered.

"No time like the present." I said.

"You're sure about doing this?" Fritz asked.

"Yes. I don't want anyone to go through the torture you've gone through."

"It needs blood from all of us." Fritz said.

"How much?" I asked, holding a knife in my right hand.

"A decent amount... There's no measurement."

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, squeezing them shut as hard as I could. Liana whimpered again when I raised the knife. I made a small cut in the middle of my forearm and let the resulting blood drip into the bowl. I looked up and noticed both Liana and Fritz were pale, almost green.

"So that is binder blood?" I asked.

"I think so. Now wrap that cut with this gauze."

I obeyed, not questioning where he had gotten the gauze. Probably from Mangoo's house somewhere. Fritz took the second knife and cut his own arm over the bowl. He barely flinched when the knife bit into his skin.

"Liana... I really hate to ask you to do this..."

"I understand, i'll do it for you." She said, it was obvious she was putting on a brave face. She took a knife and quickly made a small cut.

The bottom of the bowl was covered, Fritz wasn't saying anything so I assumed that was enough. He leaned forward and stuck his index finger in the red liquid. I could see Liana squirm uncomfortably where she now sat applying bandages to her arm. Fritz drew a triangle on one edge of the bowl and read in a guttural sounding voice from the paper. He finished speaking and lowered the paper, confusion marking his face.

"Nothing happened?" He said.

"Nope."

"I'm going to call Mangoo."

---

Minutes later Mangoo appeared, looking like he wanted to strangle Fritz.

"You used my food preparing kitchen equipment for your witchcraft?" He huffed.

"We're separating the djinn and the binders permanently." Fritz said quietly.

"You're doing WHAT? I wasn't consulted?"

"We tried the spell but it didn't work."

Mangoo groaned and I could see the the internal conflict going on.

"What were the ingredients?"

"Binder, human and djinn blood." Fritz said.

"You might need a full blooded binder," Mangoo said, "hold on."

A very hassled looking Shullat appeared in our midst. Mangoo appeared beside him and perched on the top of the sofa.

"Shullat, we need your blood to stop a binder attack!" I cried.

"Why mine?"

"You're the only full blooded binder we have with us!"

Fritz held out a knife. Shullat took it and added his blood to the bowl. Fritz began the incantation again. This time, the blood lit up with a yellow and blue light. The light formed a circle above the blood and the circle got bigger until it formed a portal. Mangoo let out a loud yelp as he was pulled toward the light. He appeared to have no control over the movements of his body. He flailed desperately but was sucked in, he disappeared. Shullat was experiencing the same problem, he was being sucked into a similar portal that had appeared on the other side of the room. He too was sucked in.

Fritz was the last to feel the pull. He held his ground, maintaining eye contact with me as he fought to stand upright. He cocked his head to the side as if begging, feelings were overwhelming me I really wanted a hug. I rushed forward and hugged him, I didn't want to let go! He leaned his face closer to mine and with a wink he kissed me.

Liana made a cooing noise but I ignored her. Fritz stepped back and half walked and was half dragged toward the portal. All at once, time slowed down. I felt myself being whipped toward the portal at lightning speed. I heard Liana yell something, I was airborne. And then, everything went white.

That was a long break... This chapter took a while and i'm still not completely sure of it... It feels rushed and a bit cliché but this is what i'm going with at least until I finish the book... Which should be soon, maybe a couple chapters. I'm looking to finish it before August because I have a lot of things starting then, programs, new job...
