Nora POV
"Mangoo agreed to kill us?" I asked, not believing it.
"It was the only way the council would let you live at all. They would have killed you immediately if he hadn't," Fritz said.
It made sense now, but I was still upset. Just because we're not djinn doesn't mean we deserve to die. Liana was innocent, she was the victim in all of this!
"Are djinn really this cruel and callous?" I asked angrily.
"No! Not all of us! There are problems in the djinni government at the moment that I was unaware of! I completely disagree with them," Fritz protested.
"So both the djinn and the binders are screwed up in their own way?" Liana said.
"I guess so," Fritz said.
"Nobody's perfect, but how can we stop the binders from coming after us?" I asked.
"The djinn council will not do anything to stop an oncoming war, they were indifferent to the problem. They only worried about you two knowing things. They do not care about the repercussions of a renewed war."
"If only we could keep them in their own separate worlds..." Liana said with a sigh. Fritz looked at me, his eyes were as big as plates.
"If only!" He crowed, "I've heard whispers about a sealing spell that could do just that!"
"Really? Is there a spell for everything?" I asked sarcastically.
"Don't burst my bubble and no, there is no spell for fixing bad sarcasm."
"What do we have to do? Is it like that paper thing I read?"
"Yep, but it needs blood."
"What?"
"From all three. Binder, human and djinn."
"This is starting to sound a bit cliché." I snorted.
"Nora calm down," He said.
"Um guys?" Liana cut in.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Before he died, the old djinn gave me this." She said, holding out a slip of parchment. It looked ancient, the script was flowy and hard to read. I couldn't read any of the words, they appeared to be in a different language.
"Fritz? Can you read this?" I said.
"No... But I do know someone who would... I think that is in a Muwakil code..."
"Muwakil?" Liana asked.
"The old djinn... Wasn't he the last of his kind?" I said.
"Yep!" Fritz said.
"We're screwed then? No one knows it?"
"No, I know someone who studied that that to impress someone."
"Who?"
"Myrtle..."
"Who?" I asked again.
"She was crazy about me while we were in school, it's not just young humans who have teen drama."
"Oh..." I said, "well are you going to get her help?"
"Yes... I will be back in a moment..." He sighed and disappeared.
Fritz POV
"Myrtle?" I called. I had come to the park, her favorite place to relax. Seconds after I had called, a head of black hair appeared in front of me. I was nearly tackled to the ground by a bear hug.
"I thought you were dead!" She cried. If she weren't crazy i'd feel a little bad.
"I'm sorry, I got detained by binders."
"That's horrible! Those terrible creatures."
"Yeah... I was wondering if you could translate this into standard spell."
"Anything for you! Let me see!"
I handed the paper to her, she nearly snatched it out of my hand in excitement. I wonder if the old djinn had known he was going to die and that was why he gave a spell to Liana. It occurred to me that this might not even be the spell for closing the worlds, it might be a spell to break the binding. In either case it would be awesome, but the worlds was a priority. Nora and Liana's safety comes before my freedom.
"What's this for?" Myrtle asked worriedly.
"What do you mean? Its for government work."
"I can't say this out loud, I will write it on the back. Don't ever use this, please!"
"Okay! Thank you, Myrtle. I have to go report this now."
I slipped back into Mangoo's house and greeted Nora and Liana once again.
Nora POV
Fritz came back with a grim expression on his face. He held out the piece of paper.
"What does it say?" I asked.
"Its a sealing spell." He said.
"Isn't that what you wanted?" Liana asked.
"It has terms. The sealing requires an exchange." Fritz said.
"What does it need in return?" I asked, worried because Fritz didn't look happy.
"A bond. It will sever the bond between Nora and myself."
"Isn't that exactly what you guys wanted?"
"When the bond breaks, all djinn will be sucked into their world and all binders will be sucked into theirs. The portal closes and the connection between human, djinn and binder will be severed forever. We will never see eachother again."
