II woke to the sensation of repeated prodding in my side. When I opened my eyes to see the source of the irritation, purple eyes stared back. I jerked back and Mangoo backed up, satisfied that I was awake.

"Fritz went to pick up food." He said. I yawned and put the pillow over my head.

"She doesn't function well without caffeine." Fritz said, walking into the room as soon as the fabric hit my face. I moved the pillow and sat up. Fritz threw a loaf of bread at Mangoo and handed me a small bag of grapes.

"Why grapes?" I asked.

"Was I wrong? I thought you needed fruit to survive..." He mumbled. "I'll get something else if you want."

"No, they're fine, I was just wondering. Do you not need food groups?"

"Nope, mostly carbs and fats!" Mangoo said, with a mouthful of bread.

"Thats weird... I do know some people who would kill to be in your shoes though..." I said.

They shrugged and continued their breakfast. I finished the grapes and took my bag into the bathroom to get dressed. Since the shower looked so nice and tempting, I took a quick shower as well.

I stepped out of the shower into the steamy air in the bathroom. The mirror was foggy and it was a little harder to breathe in the damp air. I threw on v-neck and bootcut jeans and walked out of the bathroom into the small hotel room, the floral colored drapes were the first thing I noticed. The second thing I noticed was the conspicuous absence of djinn.

A small wave a panic passed through my mind, what if they had left me? I would be alone in a strange country without money or a passport, not to mention the fact that I was here illegally...

"Fritz?" I asked timidly. Remembering the watch, I fished it out of my pocket and pressed the catch.

I jumped when both djinn tumbled uncouthly into the room, wrinkling my nose when the smell of heavy liquor reached me. I frowned at them disapprovingly.

Fritz was the first to speak up.

"Searching for information! Nothing else."

"Where were you searching? Inside a distillery?"

"Bar. Thats where you get a lot of information." Mangoo said.

"You're not too wasted to continue to wherever we're going are you? And isn't a bit early to be bar hopping?" I asked.

"I didn't have any." Fritz said, giving Mangoo a look.

"I had one. But give me credit, it was to get an important piece of info."

"That lady's number wasn't important." Fritz grumbled.

"Hey! That wasn't all I got!"

"Disease?"

"No. She was a human agent from some rogue organization. She was quite drunk, something about a major demotion. She told me that an organization is looking for the cure for the binding spell. They want to destroy that and find more binders."

"What‽ Why would they do that‽" I gasped.

"It is a rebel group, it is possible that your father was not working alone." Mangoo said seriously.

Fritz groaned and flopped on the bed Mangoo had slept in last night. Mangoo got up and came back with a glass of tap water for himself.

I noticed neither of them seemed to be using their powers, I guessed that was because they were either too tired to or they were conserving their powers for the journey.

"Where to next?" I asked.

"The fun is in not telling you..." Mangoo said, gurgling a little bit because he was talking through a glass of water at the moment. Fritz said nothing and drug himself into the bathroom and turned on the shower and got in with his clothes on. The only reason I could tell was because he didn't bother closing the door. I thought it was amusing how the water flattened his bright red hair against his face and his baggy clothes deflated. He looked like a wet puppy.

"Cold shower to wake you up?" I asked.

"No. I can smell the booze on my clothes and skin, I can't stand smelling like this." He said, looking up and glaring at Mangoo, the glare turned into a frankly scary grin and Mangoo's eyes widened.

"Don't you dare..." He said. He made a squawking noise and suddenly he was drenched. Fritz had funneled a sizable stream of water from the shower at him.

Mangoo looked at his flattened hair and dripping club clothes and snapped in Fritz's direction, the water turned into mud. Fritz turned it back into water and scrubbed the mud out from his hair and clothes. After turning the water off, he stepped into the room and to my alarm, the air directly above his palm combusted. Forming a fireball. Mangoo smirked and electrical sparks spazzed between his fingers.

"You wanna go Ifrit?" He taunted

"BOYS!" I yelled.

All traces of magic disappeared from the room.

"Clean it up." I commanded, pointing to splashes of mud and water in the room.

Fritz grudgingly gestured toward the mess and I watched, amazed, as the mud and water came out of the carpet and the rest of the room and floated in majestic drops to the shower where it filed neatly down the drain.

"I wish I could do that..." I mused.

Fritz stuck his tongue out.

"Act your age. Whatever it is!" I scolded playfully. He blew a raspberry and started making the beds. Mangoo dove onto the couch and pulled a pillow over his face.

"So, where are we actually going? You said this was a emergency stop, you haven't told me where we are actually headed."

"I can't tell you... I'm sorry, but the person we are going to find likes his privacy. I can tell you that it is way up north though, near the Scandinavian countries." Fritz said.

"Do I need a jacket then...?" I said with a grin. I was only half joking.

"Probably. Do you need one? Your backpack doesn't seem big enough to have one in it." Fritz said, he leaned back and put his hands in his back pockets.

"What size?" He asked.

"What?" I said.

"Jacket, what size?"

"Medium small?"

He disappeared as soon as I had spoken. He was back after about five minutes. He had a heavy grey jacket with a light blue fringe it looked really soft and fluffy.

"Oh! It's lovely! But you didn't have to!" I cried.

"Meh, you'd freeze if you didn't have more than those short sleeves."

"Thanks... I think... You got this legally right? It looks expensive."

"You wound me." He deadpanned.

Mangoo threw a pillow at us and told us to get a room. He got up. I put the jacket on and Mangoo said,

"Alright! Let's go!"

I took Mangoo's hand and closed my eyes as the sensation of nothingness swept over me again.
