CHAPTER 2:

As soon as we pulled up at the party in Daniel’s car, I regretted coming. I stared out the window at, well, everyone. The whole wolf pack was there, I needed to get out of there; someone had to find-

“Scarlett!” Daniel sounded excited as he opened my door, “Come on, lets go party!” He tried pulling me out of the car but I refused.

“I can’t Daniel. If everyone is here, then who is out looking for-“

“Give it a break sis. You need to stop worrying so much and have fun.” Toby interrupted me.

“He’s right Letty. As much as I hate to say it but, I agree with Pipsqueak.” Lyssa chirped.

“Don’t call me that.” Toby yelled furiously, “How many times have I told you not to call me that?”

“Oh, I’m sorry Pipsqueak; did I hurt your feelings?” Lyssa teased pulling her irresistible puppy dog face.

“Grrrrr.” Toby grunted stomping off frustrated.

“I’m still not going. Take me back to the house Daniel.” I tried reasoning

“Na-ah, I don’t think so.” Annabelle put in pointing a finger at me then jabbed Lys with her thumb, “You made a promise Letty, and you’re gonna keep it.”

“Damn it” I muttered. They knew exactly where my soft spot was. When I make promises I keep them, and there’s never an excuse. “Fine, but I’m staying in the car.” I looked up to see Daniel getting in the car next to me. “What are you doing?” I asked curiously.

“Girls, why don’t you go and enjoy the party, I’ll bring Letty in shortly.” Daniel told them, completely ignoring my question. As the girls disappeared into the crowd, I noticed Daniel start to slide his arm around my waist.

“Ewe, that’s gross. I thought you had a girlfriend.” I said bewildered.

“She dumped me,” He said casually.

“So you’re hitting on me?” I asked worried.

“Um, yeah, okay. You could say that except, I like to think of it as bonding.”

“Daniel, you’re gross.” I protested.

“Scarlett, you’re going to the party.” He tried again.

“No.” I said simply, folding my arms and turning my head away from Dan.

“Fine,” He said giving in. Finally, I was waiting for someone to fin-

“Dan! Daniel Thomas Weber, put me down, now!” I screamed as Dan started lifting me out of the car. He didn’t put me down or say anything, so I kicked and screamed, knowing he would put me down eventually giving up. When Dan did give up and put me down he sucked in a breath and flatly stated, “I don’t have a girlfriend because I’m gay. Just letting you know.”

“You jerk. Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Thank you very much Letty. Ooh.” I turned around to see what Dan was ‘oohing’ about, but he was gone, so I walked farther into the crowd.

After about five minutes of walking around looking for my friends, I gave up and sat under a tree with fairy lights hanging on the branches. I looked around longing to find someone I knew. I looked down, playing with the hem of my dress carelessly, when I noticed a pair of boots stop in front of me. I didn’t want to look up scared of whom I might find; but the boots looked familiar. My curiosity got the best of me as I slowly turned my head up to see who it was, looking down at me was a worried Michael.
