Chapter 14

I couldn’t believe it, I’d just found the answer to all of those questions everyone had been asking. As I slowly turned the dress over I saw something, something sharp and hook like in shape; something that had gotten stuck in the fabric of my dress that night. Something that belonged to that creature.

There it was, as real as possible, hanging there, right in front of me. It was a claw, a claw that belonged to that putrid beast that had nearly killed us. I hadn’t realised it before but both Mike and I had been close to death on two occasions, that weren’t too far apart. That could be another clue; maybe someone or something is trying to get a hold of us. Damn it, Letty don’t think like that! You’re perfectly safe, well, as safe as a half vamp teen could be.

“Come on Letty! Hurry up! We’re going to be late! You’ve been in there for half an hour!” Lys spoke from the hallway.

“Lys! You’d better get in here! I’ve umm ... found something!” I yelled.

“Oh Letty relax, it’s probably ...” She said as she entered the room, she stopped talking when she saw what I was holding. “That’s not ...”

“Mm it is ...” I answered.

“Oh my gosh! Letty! We have to tell George and the rest of the circle!”

“I know, but I’m worried they’ll get me in trouble for not finding it sooner,” I said.

“Still! If you leave it any longer they’ll be even madder that you kept it from the even after you found it!” Lys replied.

“Alright, but Lys ... I just realised that both Mike and I have been in two near death situations in the last month, I don’t exactly take that too lightly,”

“Oh damn Letty, I didn’t realise that either, I think we might have to keep you both under full time watch so you don’t get kidnapped or anything!” She said half-heartedly, not really realising the words she’d voiced.

“Umm yeah ... you do that Lys, just please don’t joke like that because one day I might be kidnapped, you never know these days,” I replied.

“Oh sorry Letty, I only meant it as a joke, I guess I should probably think more about the words that are going to come out of my mouth before I say them hey,” She apologized.

“Don’t worry about it Lys, I’m much more worried about finding out what the hell that creature was that attacked us!”

“Good point! Let’s go!”

I quickly got changed into some other clothes and rushed downstairs. I found Mike sitting on the couch and literally dragged him towards the door.

“If only you’d drag me like that into the bedroom babe,” He said.

“Bite my ass you bastard,” I replied as smiled sheepishly at him.

“I’d love to,” Mike said. He was really crossing the line now, so I decided to give him a ‘little’ slap in the face.

“Ouch babe, be nice to my face,” He said hurt. I kissed him on the cheek.

“Toughen up a little Mike,” I joked.

On our way to the circle, I showed Mike the claw that I’d found and also told him how we could be in danger, he didn’t take it too well.

“Are you for real Letty, we’re in danger, what if someone comes and kills us in our sleep? Or what if that creature whatever it is comes to get us? We’d all be dead meat.” He said.

“Yeah, I tried not to over think what could happen to us; I might be wrong so don’t count on it.” I tried to reassure him.

“He has a point though Letty, we should look after you guys as much as we can because like you said, you never know what could happen,” Lys said.

When we reached the building where the circle had their meetings we were greeted by the secretary.

“Hello Scarlett, Lyssa, and Michael, what have you come here for today?” The secretary said. I had no idea how she knew our names, surely George didn’t talk about us that much? Or did he?

“Umm we’d like to show something to the circle, it’s very urgent.” I spoke up.

“How urgent, they happen to be in a meeting at this moment,” She replied.

“It’s vital we see them at this minute, we’ve found something that could answer all the questions the circle has been asking for the last few months.”

“Alright, I’ll see what I can do,” She offered.

We were ushered into a meeting room after the lady had made a phone call, which happened to be the meeting room with all of the circle members in it. We were going to literally be dead if we wasted any of their time.

“Oh Scarlett! We were just talking about you! How wonderful it is that you and Michael survived that awful incident.” One of the members said. There were so many that I didn’t know all their names.

“Thank you, yes, we were very lucky to receive the treatment we did in time,” I replied.

“So, what is it that you’ve come here to address today, you know that we don’t like people who waste our time with nonsense,” George warned.

“Of course George,” Michael answered.

“We wanted to show you this,” I said as I held the claw up with pride, “I found it this morning on the dress that I wore when Mike and I were attacked by the creature.”

Everyone gawped in awe at what I’d just said; only George managed to collect himself.

“Are you completely sure that’s the claw of the creature?” He asked.

“I’m one-hundred per cent sure that it’s the claw of the creature.”

“Thank you for sharing that with us, now would you mind,” He said as he opened his hand, I handed him the massive claw.

“Wow, I don’t believe that we’ve ever seen anything like this before,” One member said.

“No we certainly haven’t and we’ll be sure to have many DNA tests, and if you find anything else that could be useful in the tests please do give it to us as it will help to find out about the creature,” George concluded, “And also, Lyssa, please make sure you keep a close eye on these two, I do believe they’ve been subject to many attempts of murder as of late.”
