Jack and the Doctor didn't really understand much about Hogwarts' past and didn't know why Hermione was fearful. She was a witch, so why would she be worried about meeting her ancestors. They didn't know that she was in grave danger by being from muggle parents and not being of pure blood.
Hermione whipped out her wand and shrunk the fiery TARDIS down to a manageable size. The Doctor ran to it and extinguished the external flames to place it in his pocket for safe keeping.
"What do we do now Hermione" said the Doctor, for once unsure of what to do.
"We should get into disguise and confront them, pretend to be officials or something, then leave. If the Forbidden Forest is this size, we can't really stay hidden can we." said Hermione, voicing her thoughts. She pulled at the beaded bag she had hung at her hip and rummaged through it. Strange noises came from the bag as though a whole room was being knocked from side to side.
"Ah! Got them."
Hermione pulled out three plain, black wizarding robes complete with pointed hats and curved shoes.
" Doctor, Doctor. Smallish, lean... He can have the one I had packed for Harry." said Hermione to herself before throwing one set of clothes in the vague direction of the Doctor.
"Jack... Tall..... He can have he one for Ron......." Hermione pushed the clothes onto Jack and snapped at them.
"Well don't just stand there looking disgusted! Change into them."Hermione was quickly into the robes and feeling at ease in such familiar robes. The Doctor and Jack, however, were finding it hard to wear the strange clothes and even more so to look natural in them. Hermione started to waltz right up to the castle with Jack and the Doctor following like shy puppies following a rather forceful master. The Doctor scurried up to Hermione's side and handed her what looked like a passport.
"And what might this be?"
"It is your license as a construction overseer from the wizard government. The paper can be any qualification you want to show those wizard folk. Look, it is hard to explain, but imagine a wizard construction license and it look like it to whoever you show it too."Hermione faltered and looked at the leather bound, blank sheet of paper in her hand. She looked beseechingly at Jack who laughed and gave a thumbs up. Purely to test the Doctor's gadget, Hermione marched over to the first wizard she saw. He had a long, skinny body that looked particularly gaunt amongst the layers of emerald green robes that bedecked his figure. Hermione, full of her usual confidence tapped him on the shoulder and flashed the Doctor's contraption in the mans long face.
"I'm Hermione Granger, head witch at the newly formed Ministry of Magic here to check progress on this new construction. And you are?"
Hermione had tried to make herself seem important and belittle that man, but it had entirely backfired. The man looked down at her through snake-like eyes with yellow iris's and spat with a voice dripping in disgust.
"You are from that snivelling Ministry of fools trying to interfere, are you. Well go ahead but do not get in my way, for I am the great Salazar Slytherin!"
With a jolt, Hermione recognised the face from the stone monument inside the Chamber of Secrets and knew at once that she had made a bad move. Desperate to keep her pride, she scowled at the wicked man and strutted away with Jack and the Doctor right at her heels.
