To not look like a lost idiot, and also to get out of the range where I can get accidentally hit, I move to the side and sit next to the wall. Some of the classmates started circling each other on the mat, or went straight into the fight. A good amount of the remaining students is still wandering around, chatting. Their gazes are pinned on me as they are having a conversation, me as a main topic no doubt. I hate this feeling that's tying my chest, fillinf it with boiling anger and not being able to do anything about it.

Erilyn finds me and offers to pair up for a quick sparing session. Since I should probably participate in the class to not flunk out, I grab her hand and she pulls me up. We do a few more warm ups, secure a mat and then Erilyn asks me if I am ready. Not knowing what I should do exactly, I only copy her stance and nod.

Erilyn: show me what you got, Umbras.

I can't react in time and before her words hit my ears, I hit my ass first. In a flash, Erilyn's fists missed my cheek by a pure luck, but instead she was able to grab my neack and sweep feet from under me. The world flipped, then I was slammed against the mat, which didn't help soften the fall at all. Air became unknown to my lungs for a few seconds and I also might have seen two Erilyn's as she hovered above me. Her mouth is moving, but all I hear is a muffled sound. It took a few coughs and hard forced blinks to be able to focus.

Erilyn: Gosh, I thought you will block it, I wouldn't go so hard if I knew.

Me: I thought we will be somehow utilizing our powers in a fight. That's what Combats are, no?

Roven: What the hell happened?

Erilyn: It's my fault. I saw how stiff she is, b ut I thought it's just because she is out of practice.

Roven: And you still went full on her?

Me: Don't blame her Roven. I didn't know it's going to be hand to hand combat only. We never trained that.

Roven and Erilyn both yell what at me, making me jerk away and grab my ears. Then I pick myself from the ground, standing up like a grandma and hold my hurting back. Taking a deep breath, I sigh and briefly explain what classes I had at Umbras and what I've learned so far.

Needing a minute for the pain to pass, I keep rubbing my lower back and go back to sit next to the wall while the guys discuss a plan on how I should approach the training. I have to shift on the floor, because my butt is still sore from the impact. Clutching to my legs, I press left cheek against my knees to rest a bit. My mind instantly wanders to Umbras, how is everyone doing and also how easy it was compared to this, yet I complained back then.

Annoying voice pulls me out of my head. Snow-white dreadlocks bounce in the distance towards a male version of myself. Synne meets up with Roven and turns into a giggly girl, holding wrists behind back, twirling gently to sides and shooting him a wide smile. My mind wanders to me and Raco, thinking if I ever looked the same way around him and my heart sinks. I have to focus on something else, but I am forced to return my gaze back after a loud angry exclamation.

Synne: you kidding me? Why do you have to do it? Anybody can train her!

Roven: Best option still would be me.

Synne: Don't bullshit me okay. We all know Erilyn is a better fighter. You weren't otdered to do it, but chose to.

Roven: Erilyn might be a great fighter, but I am from the same bloodline. I know the limits of our bodies and can guide her the best. I am sorry we will miss our sessions, but I have to do this.
