Draco's eyes shot wide, mirroring mine, after my hand striked his face. Well now definitely the nurses will talk about this. Before I add more fuel to the rumors, I storm out of the infirmary, grabbing Draco on the way and dragging him out.
Finding a hidden empty spot in the corridor, I use it to talk to Draco while Mr. Hale gets separated from us, giving me space to deal with this situation. I take a deep long breath, then exhale slowly while composing my thoughts. First thing first, I apologize to Draco for slapping his face. As I start explaning what actually happened, a sudden rush of exhaustion flashes over me and I loose control over my body. Instead of cold floor, my face slams against a warm broad chest.
Draco: Maybe you should go back to the infirmary.
Me: No need.
Draco finally speaks up. No anger in his voice anymore, but pure concern. I don't even have to finish explaining and he probably understood it all from how weak I am, how hot I must feel to touch, except for my hands, how sweaty and smelly I must be. I get scooped up into Draco's arms and this time I don't protest. I have no energy to do so. Pressing my cheek agaist his chest, I take slow breaths, taking in different cologne. Draco always smells so sweet, like honey mixed in a citrus tea. I feel safe and peaceful with him too, but it feels different to Mr. Hale.
With a knock on the door, Reilly opens our room from the inside and is in shock to see me carried in again. She starts asking questions, little too fast for me to understand and focus on it right now, so I don't reply. Draco tells her what he knows and then I am brought inside, placed on the bed.
Despite being so drained out of energy, I need to calm all the thoughts I have right now. I ask Draco to hand me the phone inside my backpack. Scrolling through the number list, I don't have to go too much far down since I don't have that many people saved anyway, I find the number I want to call and then press dial.
Reilly and Draco give me some privacy as they leave to the other side of the room to talk, probably about my health. If she asks him if I could be pregnant I swear to god...! I glare at Reilly while waiting for the person to pick up. I squint eyes at Reilly, trying to convey my thoughts to her but I get startled by a voice coming from the speaker. I quickly tune in to the conversation, apologizing for calling so late.
Me: I wouldn't call at this hour if it wasn't important, Ms. Do'or.
Ms. Do'or: I don't mind, Kaitlin. What do you need to know?
Me: Something is happening and I would like to meet up, soon if possible. I want to know your opinion on... Morrigans.
Placing hand over my mouth and covering the phone, I say the last word as a whisper. After Ms. Do'or told me her plans to save the mixed children, I knew I can trust her with my secret. Somehow she knew I am a Morrigan and didn't hand me over to the authorities. Or maybe she kept me close because I survived this long while other Morrigans die young, and I might serve as some clue in saving them. Even if I am being used for something, I don't care when I know that I am protected, for now.
Ms. Do'or offered to give me her notes and books on mixed children, if I want to know more, but I instisted on meeting up. I couldn't tell her more details over the phone, explaining that I am not alone right now and can't really talk. The urgency in my voice convinced her to clear schedule for tomorrow and Ms. Do'or agreed to meet up with me. It reassured me a little bit for now and I calmed down enough to be able to fall asleep immediately.
I woke up way too late. It's already after lunch and I missed the dance class. I wish I could be bothered by it, since it will affect the points for my studies, but I can't think about something so trivial as a stupid dance right now. My heart is beating like crazy, stomach is twisting and churning, making me throw up as soon as I get out of bed.
