Forced to stay and train, I had to push through all of my limits. Nobody cares if my body is screaming from pain or not. Erilyn tried to go easy on me, but whenever the professor gave her a look, she had to throw hard punches.
I have never been so glad to hear the bell this much in my whole life. Only gods know how I managed to return back to my room in this state. Every slight move sets my muscles on fire, making me want to tear off my limbs. All sweaty, hair greasy, I can't make it all the way to the bed. I drop on the cold floor next to it to rest, but end up falling asleep.
I look like a homeless person everyday. Barely recovering from the previous class, I am back to the training, earning new bruises. Slightly getting better at close combat doesn't mean anything when I am too exhausted to focus on the fight.
When the professor finally calls for a break, I let my knees crumble and I crash on the mat like a sack of potatoes. Everything is so overwhelming, I can't decide if I should take a breath first or throw up. I don't even care the mat is so dirty from the sweat and blood, and I keep rolling in it to cool my body.
The only relief I get is whenever Roven is sparing with me and he massages my shoulders after, like he is right now. Strangely, his touch feels like it has some sort of healing powers. I have suffered constant attempts of sabotage from Synne, but I stopped caring about it pretty fast. I am too tired to even be bothered, and his massage is really helping me out.
A bit of strength has returned into me, in time to continue this torture. The professor cancelled the break, so with disgust and a grunt, I get up from the floor. My shoulder slumped and I let out a soft cry.
Luckily, my disappointment of not being able to lie on a dirty mat was quickly lifted when the fighting was put on a hold. The class got dismissed for everyone who is not a Fenrir descendant. The rest of us got an order to line up for an announcement.
Professor Kai: The annual camp is prepared and we are leaving tomorrow. First-years are under student Greystone's command. All non-shifters are excluded and will remain at the academy.
I have heard some mentions about this camp from the guys. Based on what they've told me, it sounds similar to what we had at Aveus when we first started. I was looking forward to it, but I guess I won't be going. Wish a sigh, I tell the twins and Roven to enjoy the camp, then go grab my things. Roven walks over to me and pats my head, telling me not to be sad about it. I don't have time to smack away his hand, annoyed he is treating me like a kid, and he is already on his way to the middle of the room, calling first-years over to him.
Busy with observing Roven command like a real leader, I start to understand what people see in him. This pure respect and power he radiates is intoxicating. I was so immersed in that, I haven't noticed someone came over to me and I got startled.
Professor Kai gives me a something between a soft smile and a smirk, apologizing for sneaking up on me. I started to stutter, flap my hands in front of him while trying to get the words out of me. Professor Kai smirks again and I start to feel a bit awkward. He is holding his wrists behind his back, but the way he leans over, standing really close to me as he asks continues the conversation, is making me uncomfortable.
Professor Kai: Have anything special planned while others are at the camp?
Me: Haven't really thought about it. How long is it for?
Professor Kai: A full week. You can stay at the academy and do self-training, or make your own plans in the city. I don't leave for the camp until the third day, so I would like to train you in that time.
