That night, I decide to crash at Sonya's. I'm in no condition to go back and face my mom, not after what she said. The more I think about it, the more it hurts. Deep down, I know she doesn't mean it, but still. Hearing that breaks my heart.

After Sam went back home, the hype of him accepting Sonya and I's love subsided, and I was left feeling hurt and angry, my previous situation resurfacing. I stayed quiet and Sonya knew exactly what I was thinking. She lied down with me on the sofa, and pulled me close to her body. I didn't cry, and I didn't speak. I just buried my face into her neck and inhaled her familiar scent and absorbed her comforting warmth.

Her presence calms me. It grounds me. Makes me feel safe. She's my home. The best damn thing to happen to me.

Everything is starting to work out, even with the obstacles standing in our way. As long as we stick together, we can make it through this. No matter what happens, I will always love Sonya. She's the only person I see myself living my life with.

And with that thought, I fell asleep. Or, I think I did, because when I open my eyes again, the sun outside is much lower, and Sonya is gone. I blink a few times, clearing the sleep from my eyes. I stretch, and look around the living room, still lying down. Sonya isn't here. I frown, and slowly get up, my joints stiff from the nap.

I slowly pad my way down the hallway and make it to Sonya's room, and peek inside. I see her lying on her stomach, controller in hand and playing Need for Speed: Undercover. That's the only video game that she's actually pretty good at. It's entertaining to watch her play. She's so cute when she concentrates. She frowns, causing her nose to scrunch up adorably, and her tongue always pokes out a little.

I smile, and decide to sneak up on her. She's so absorbed in the game, that she doesn't even notice my presence. I run up to the bed and jump on top of her, squishing her body under mine.

She yelps in surprise, her car veering off the track and crashing into the wall. She pauses the game, and cranes her neck to glare at me. "Babe! You scared the shit out of me," she pouts, frowning at me. My heart skips a beat. Babe. Oh Lord.

I grin down at her, lying my head on her back, sighing happily. She grunts in annoyance, trying to shake me off. "C, get off, I'm trying to beat this mission."

"Too bad, I'm comfy," I reply, snuggling even more into her.

She grumbles, unpausing her game, and restarting the mission. "You dork, get off of me."

"No."

"Please?"

"Nope,"

"You little shit."

"I love you."

She doesn't say anything, she just leans down and softly kisses the palm of my hand, my arms being wrapped around her neck gently. I stay silent for a while, watching Sonya race around the city. A good ten minutes later, something pops into my head. "Hey, S?"

"Mmm?" she mumbles, still focusing on the game.

I unconsciously tighten my hold on her, and breathe out deeply. "What attracted you to Trenton?"

I feel her tense up underneath me, but I don't say anything. I'm curious, and I want to know. She sighs, but doesn't stop playing. "Honestly? Nothing. At first, Trenton actually was a nice guy. He was chivalrous, which put him on top of my list of potential boyfriends. You know, to get my parents off my back..." she trails off, all the while still playing the game.

I stay silent, pressing my ear against her back, and listening to the beating of her heart. It's become one of my favourite sounds, next to her voice and laughter. Sonya resumes talking after a few seconds. "All the other guys we're just assholes, you know? I mean, Trenton was hiding behind this façade. His true colours came to light. He's a fuckboy, and probably always will be," she finishes, causing me to laugh.
