Lauren and I have been seeing each other for just over a month now, and it's been so incredible. It's a little hard sometimes to see each other some days, because she works nights at the bar, but other than that, it's good.

She's good.

It's now December, and I realize that Christmas is coming really soon. Since Lauren doesn't have any family left, I have invited her to Maddison's for Christmas dinner. My sister is having my mom, dad, Daniel's parents, Sam and his fiancé over for dinner, so it'll be pretty quiet. Lauren was so grateful that my family has accepted her. She told me that I'm a blessing to her (how fucking sweet).

Right now, it's a Sunday afternoon, and Lauren and I went out to SOHO to do some Christmas shopping. It's absolutely packed, but not as busy as it would've been in the malls. Besides, this is my favourite kind of shopping.

"So babe," starts Lauren, "what do you want for Christmas?"

I roll my eyes at her. "I already told you, I didn't want anything."

Lauren lets out a groan, causing to smile. "But I need to get you something," she protests.

"Just your beautiful face is enough for me," I tell her. How cheesy of me.

"Awwww," she says, and I wink at her. We go into a few stores, and browse a little. I keep glancing at Lauren, who finds really cute things, but when she looks at the price tag, her face falls and she walks away to find something else.

I feel bad. She worked so hard in school to get a degree in something she absolutely loves, but can't get any work.

I remember a conversation I had with Maddie earlier this week. As her company expands, more and more lines of clothing are being created. She's got everyday clothes, business clothes, athletics and all kinds of stuff. Anyways, she was telling me that she wanted a fresh start on the everyday clothes, but wanted to hire someone to help her with the design. Looking back at Lauren, her style is exactly what Maddie needs. I've been waiting to tell this to Lauren, so that I can talk to Maddie about it first.

I'm sure my sister would absolutely be down to hiring Lauren. She hasn't seen any of her stuff yet, but she would love it.

We leave the store after being unsuccessful, and hit up other stores. Lauren keeps getting disappointed at all the things she can't afford, but never says anything to me. I an just see it on her face.

I am going to talk to Maddie as soon as possible about getting my girlfriend a job.

I stop short. Girlfriend?

I look to Lauren again, who is smiling up at the sky as it starts to snow. I smile too.

Yes, girlfriend.

I am pacing around the room. I've been pacing for about twenty minutes. Today is the day I am going to face my parents. Realizing that I've been in Austin for over a month, and not having gone to see them, I decided that I just need to face them.

Sure, I have terrible anxiety over it, but it needs to be done. I need to take the first step in my recovery.

After all the years of torment by the hands of Trenton, I've suffered immensely. I don't need a Psychologist to tell me that. I know that my anxiety is horrible, and that I have depression. I'm terrified of walking on the street, thinking that every man out there is going to take me away and lock me up into their basements. In today's age, and after what happened to me, it's a real thing to fear.
