Coley
The soft jazz music is playing through the mounted wall speakers, just loud enough to make it enjoyable without disrupting any conversations happening at different tables. I look around the different faces, smiling as I'm listening to everyone talk, and as my eyes finally rest on my favourite person in the whole world, I feel my heart heat up, in a comforting way. Sonya reaches for my hand, which is resting on the seat of the booth beside me and leans in, kissing me on the cheek.
"Babe, what are you thinking about?" she asks me in a whisper, her warm breath tickling my skin.
I turn my eyes to her. "Just how lucky I am to be here with you. And how proud of you I am."
A couple weeks have passed since Sonya made an appointment with Adam Parks to discuss her future in the filmmaking program. Turns out, when they did meet, he was so impressed by the film she showed him that he admitted her immediately. Of course, she's a bit behind in the semester since it's already half way through, but he said he was willing to help her get organized. So, tonight is the night we all decided to celebrate together. Mom came up to visit too, so we planned dinner at a fancy restaurant. Maddie, Dan, Sam and Dani joined us too. I swear, if all of them are still trying to deny that they're not dating, they better try harder, because I'm not buying it. They all act like they're married or something. Ugh.
Sonya smiles at me. "I am so lucky to be here with you, C. And thank you, I couldn't have been able to do this without you."
"You did this all on your own, S. And with the help of Maddie, but you'rethe one with the brilliant talent and the incredible ambition."
My girlfriend squeezes my hand. "But you pushed me to do this. To pursue this. And I need to thank you for that. So thank you." She leans in and kisses my cheek again, causing my skin to grow a shade of red. This girl will always elicit this kind of reaction from me.
We return to the conversation going around the table. Sam is talking about something funny that happened in his class the other day, but honestly, I'm so lost in the conversation, so I continue watching instead. I look over to Maddison and Dan, and I smirk. They think they're being sneaky, but I can see that they're both madly in love with one another. Why can't they just admit their feeling to each other? They melt my heart.
I hear my mom say my name, and I turn to her. "Huh? Did you say something?"
My mom rolls her eyes, laughing. "Coley, would you please get your head out of the clouds? I asked you if you want any dessert? It's my treat." I smile at her. My mom has been so amazing. I feel bad that I never gave her a chance before. I feel like I've missed out on so much because I always distanced myself from her, and I regret that. I'm thankful to have her like this though. We're so much closer now then we've ever been in my eighteen years of life.
Sonya and I decide to share a delicious looking cheesecake. While everyone is giving the waiter their dessert orders, I turn to look over at Sonya. She's currently chatting with Dan about school, and I can't help but admire how beautiful she is. The waves in her hair fall perfectly over her shoulders, cascading down her back. The way her eyes crinkle slightly when she laughs is so cute, just like the way her nose always scrunches up when she's in deep thought. Sonya doesn't like those traits about her, but they make me love her even more. I love every single little detail about this girl. She's beautiful, amazing, sweet, loving, caring and perfect. I know I'll spend an infinite amount of lifetimes loving her.
I lean over to Sonya and whisper into her ear, "I love you so much."
She turns to me, smiling big. She whispers back into my ear. "I love you so much."

Later that night, Sonya and I enter the apartment, laughing loudly. Everyone parted ways for the night. My mom went back to the hotel she's staying in because her flight leaves tomorrow in the early morning. Dani drove Sam back to his residence, and Maddie went to Dan's apartment. She told us not to wait up for her because she'd probably just crash at his place. Mmhm, sis, I totally know what you guys are up to.
After taking the subway back to the station near Maddie's apartment, Sonya and I encountered a group of young men, probably out on a Saturday night to scavenge for some girls. Anyways, they hilariously failed trying to pick us up, and the way they got so mad when we told them we were gay and not interested was so funny to us. It's gotten to the point where stuff like that doesn't upset us or make us angry. I mean, I still get pissed when it happens, because guys have absolutely no right to be mad at a girl if she turns him down, but I just find it so goddamn ridiculous that they think we're lying about our sexuality just because we don't want to hook up with them.
Anyways, we laughed about it the entire way home, and now that we're back to the loft, the laughter is finally starting to die down. I lock the door behind me, and kick off my shoes. Sonya goes into the living room, looking for her computer, so I walk into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. As I take a sip from my cup, I feel arms encircling me from behind, and I smile. Turning around, I'm immediately met with a pair of soft and warm lips. I close my eyes, relishing the familiar feeling. I blindly put my glass down on the counter, and put my arms around her waist, pulling her body closer to mine.
Sonya gently pushes me against the counter, leaning herself into me, and I slightly moan at the feeling of her body against mine. She pulls away, and breathes hard. I look down at her lips, and I lean back into them, nibbling at her bottom one gently, wanting entrance, which she grants. I move one of my arms up so that my hand is cupping her face, holding her face gently. After a few moments of us just standing here and kissing, I feel her shift her body gently, and I let out a little hum. I hear her hum in return and pull back. Her eyes are full of love, her pupils dilated, and her lips slightly parted and breathing hard. I can only assume I look the same way.
"C," she rasps out, causing even more heat to shoot through my body.
"Y-yeah?" I manage to say through irregular breaths. Sonya doesn't say anything. She grabs my hand, and gently leads me out of the kitchen, into the hallway, and in our room. I stand there, in the near darkness of our room, the only lighting provided to us coming from the moon outside, and our little night light.
Sonya closes the door behind her, and turns around to face me. Her face is so beautiful. She's so beautiful, I think, as she approaches me. She gently grabs my shoulders, leading me to the edge of the bed, which I sit down on. I look up to her, and my heart stops. She's a Goddess.
Leaning down, she straddles me, and we end up lying flat on the bed, her body hovering over mine as she looks down on me. She lifts her hand up, gently caressing my face, and she brings her lips to meet mine in a strong, passionate kiss. This is a different kind of kiss. It's one that makes every nerve inside of me burn with intense desire.
"Sonya," I whisper to her after she pulls apart for a second. She looks at me, a smile adorning her features.
"C," she says, bringing her lips down to meet mine once more. Before she can do anything else, I wrap my arms tightly around her waist, and pull her in for a long, tight hug.
"I don't ever want to lose you, S," I tell her, my face buried in her hair. Sonya pulls up a little to look at me, her eyes boring into mine. She brings her hand up to my face, tracing my cheek lovingly.
"I don't ever want to either."
Tonight, we made love for the first time. It was loving, and magical in every way, even if we didn't know what the hell we were doing. We're in love, and that's enough for me.
