(Y/N POV)

The "short hiatus" had felt like an eternity. For three months, I had existed in the shadows of SM Entertainment—the ghost in the machine. I had written four chart-topping demos, mastered the art of making the perfect iced americano for four different picky tastes, and learned exactly how to dodge dispatch reporters in the company parking lot.

But today, the shadow was moving.

"Y/N! If you don't come out of that bathroom in three seconds, I am breaking the door down!" Winter's voice thundered through the wood, accompanied by a rhythmic pounding.

"I'm fixing my hair, noona! Some of us haven't been seen by the public in ninety days!" I shouted back, checking the mirror one last time.

I looked... different. During the break, the stylists had decided to lean into a "darker, more mature" aesthetic for my return. My hair was longer, slightly messy, and I was wearing a custom-fitted black leather jacket over a chrome-print shirt. The "Maknae" vibes were officially dead.

I opened the door, and Winter nearly fell into the bathroom. She stopped, blinking up at me. Her mouth opened, then closed.

"Whoa," she finally said, her aggressive energy evaporating. "You look... expensive."

"Is that a compliment?"

"It means you look like someone who won't get bullied by the internet today," she joked, though she reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "Ready? The remix stage is basically a surprise party for the fans."

"I'm ready," I said, though my stomach was doing a synchronized swimming routine.

Inkigayo - Backstage

The atmosphere at the broadcasting station was electric. Rumors had been swirling for twenty-four hours that aespa would be performing as five again. The "OT5" hashtags were trending worldwide, but SM had remained characteristically silent, wanting the maximum impact of a live reveal.

In the waiting room, the girls were a whirlwind of nerves and excitement.

"Okay, remember the formation change for the second verse," Karina said, her voice sharp but steady. She was in her "General Jimin" mode, eyes focused as she paced the room. "Y/N enters from the rising platform. Don't look at the floor. Look at the camera. Give them that 'I'm back' energy."

She stopped in front of me. She looked breathtaking—her hair was a deep violet for this comeback, and her outfit was a mix of lace and tech-wear.

"You okay?" she whispered, loud enough only for me.

"Heart's at 150 BPM," I admitted, showing her my shaking hands.

She didn't hesitate. She grabbed both of my hands in hers, squeezing tightly. "Look at me on stage. If you get overwhelmed, find my eyes. I'll guide you through the choreography."

"What about us?" Ningning pouted, joining the circle. "We're here too! If you get lost, look at me and I'll make a funny face to make you laugh."

"Please don't do that, Ningning," Giselle laughed, adjusting her gloves. "But seriously, Y/N. You've worked harder than anyone for this. Just show them why you're the 5th member."

"Group huddle!" Winter commanded.

We all leaned in, hands stacked in the center.
"1, 2, 3... AESPA!"

The Performance

The lights dimmed. The familiar, heavy bass of Supernova began to throb through the floorboards. The crowd's screams were already deafening, but they didn't know the half of it.
