Beautifully Burnt

As we near the beach I can see lots of surfers, surfers who obviously work out. Jade runs up to the water and literally belly flops in. Ah Jade, so graceful. Karlee and I slowly trail behind, placing our towels down on the beach.
"What's the rush?" I ask as I slowly walk to the water.
"Sorry I was dying of heat!" Jade replied, dipping her head under water.
"So what do you think? Think you'll find that dream Jedi person or whatever...." Karlee
"No I don't think I'll find him." I reply, laughing.
Jade smiles, as Karlee gets more confused by the minute.
"Look out!" I hear a deep voice yell.
Suddenly a surfer flips off his board, the board stops as it hits Karlee in the back. Karlee screams and turns around.
"Is it a shark?" Karlee shouts.
"Shhh...Kara you can't yell shark here, you'll get in trouble!" I whisper to her.
"It was just some surfer guy."
"Why that stupid, clumsy....where is he I'm gonna punch....uh, hello..." Karlee says, clamping her mouth shut.
"I'm so sorry, are you hurt?" He said lifting her up, with one hand.
"Uh...I'm ok now." Karlee replies.
Jade belly flops forward into the water, laughing.
I slightly roll my eyes.
"How did you do that?" Karlee asked, watching other surfers out on waves.
"I'll show you." He said as they walked away.
"Well...that took long." I say.

As we walk away from the smoothie bar we watch Karlee try to stand on a surf board. Jade and I try not to laugh at a soaking wet Karlee.
Karlee sticks her tongue at us and tries to stand again. We watch as she slowly stands, then leans to the side, a wave starts to come.
Goodbye Karlee.  I think to myself.
Lukily Kara jumps off just as the wave crashes down on the board. The surfers start to clap and cheer for for her.
"She jumped off a board....I can do that!" Jade says shaking her head.
"Yeah...." I say sarcastically.
"I'm sure Ja-"
"We don't need to think about what he'd think." Jade says.
I roll my eyes and look at Karlee who is walking up to us.
"Fun?" I ask, looking at her scraped up stomach.
"Fun." She replies.
"You know sharks are attracted to blood, right?" Jade says, looking at Karlee's scraps.
"Great..." Karlee replies.

As I text Ruby on my bed, I hear someone screaming. I jump up and quickly run to the living room.
"Alright, who just died?" I yell.
"Oh . my . God." Karlee says as she sees Jade.
I can't help myself and burst into laughter.
"And that children, is why you wear sunscreen." I say in between laughs.
"IT'S FRICKING BRIGHT RED!" Jade screams.
"Yes honey, it's a s-u-n-b-u-r-n." I say.
"I can't wait to see the look on J-."
"No! No way are we showing him!" Jade yells.
"Ugh. Fine." Karlee says, pouting.
"Ok it's time we get some sorta sleep. Let's dream about pleasant things, like, rainbows and unicorns, and Jade when she doesn't wear sunscreen." I burst into laughter.
"Yeah, yeah." Jade says and closes her room door.
"Goodnight." Karlee says to me.
"Seeya in the morning." I reply before slowly letting my eyes close.
