The Chase

(Okay! Time to end the year with a bang! This is gonna be a fun chapter.)

So, we now have a new member to the team. It has been a few days and now Spring has begun. Which also means Appa is shedding his coat. A lot. "Hey, you guys picked a great campsite. The grass is so soft." I look over at Toph to find her standing in some of Appa's fur. "That's not grass. Appa's shedding." Sokka tells her. "Oh, gross." Katara complains. I put down my sleeping bag and walk over, "Yep. Nothing like being in hole in a forest soon to be filled with bison fur." I comment. "It's not gross. It's just a part of spring. You know, rebirth, flowers blooming, and Appa gets a new coat." Aang says. I look up at him, "Yep. Time moves forward as the seasons change. To be honest, it is a good change after living in a frozen tundra for most of my life. Even if it starts off being covered in fuzzball's fuzz." I comment.

"Ahh. The beauty of spring." Katara says with sarcasm. Appa then sneezes and a whole lot of his fur poofs off him. (Huh. Fluff cloud.) "Stop. Appa, stop!" Katara coughs from the fur. "Heh." I smirk and look down at the fur amd get an idea. "It's not that bad, Katara. It makes a great wig." Sokka says as he made one form Appa's fur. "And a great beard." Aang hops down with said beard. Huh, reminds me of our first time at Omashu. The boys laugh at each other while I still focus on my little project. "I'm just glad we finally have another girl in the group, because you two are disgusting." Katara says.

"Excuse me. Does anyone have a razor, because I got some hairy pits." Toph says, revealing the fur she put in her shirt. "Pfft! I've got a knife. And while I'm at it, perhaps some sole-less fur boots?" I stand up and hold up a foot to reveal my foot covered in Appa's fur. We all break out laughing but Aang sneezes and blows off the fur while also knocking back into Appa. (HAH! 🤣) And falling down while having fur stick to his back! "AH-HA! Oh! Oh, you're killing me, bud!" I get out before wrapping my arms around my stomach.

We laugh for a while but calm down. "Okay. I'll go find us some food." I state. I take out my bola-knife and walk off. I return with a small animal and some nuts and berries. We took a break after I finished cooking the animal over a fire while gave the nuts and berries to Aang. We sit around a fire and I offered Toph some food, but she eats the food she brought with her. She denies it and I respect her decision. "It is nice having another member on the team." I state. "Yep. Especially one being a powerful bender." Sokka says then scarfs down his portion. "I can't wait to learn earthbending from you, Toph." Aang says. "Well, I have to warn you. Twinkle Toes, it ain't for the dainty." Toph says. I chuckle, "You are a delight." I tell her.

Soon the sun had set and after eating. we continued getting camp set up. I get our sleeping bags ready but hear water still and look to find Katara looking at Toph who is relaxing against some rocks with a wheat in her mouth. Katara stands up and walks over to her, I reach out my hand but pull back and remember how stubborn Katara is. I just hope she doesn't push too hard. (Uuuummm....)

Third Person P.O.V.

Katara walks over and looks down at Toph. "So, Toph, usually when setting up camp, we try to divide up the work." Katara states. "Hey, don't worry about me. I'm good to go." Toph replies. "Well, actually, what I'm trying to say is some of us might fetch water while someone else might set up the fire pit or put up the tent." Katara continues as she gestures to the others. Momo appears and drops some nuts which Katara catches, "Even Momo does his fair share." She says. "Katara, I'm fine. I can carry my own weight. I don't need a fire. I've already collected my own food. And look." Toph sits up as she bends two walls of earth to form a tent above her, "My tent's all set up." She states.

Katara gives her a slight scowl, "Well, that's great for you, but we still need to finish-" "I don't understand. What's the problem here?" Toph interrupts Katara as she gets frustrated. "Never mind." Katara walks off. (Y/N) watched and it all but turns her head away before Katara could notice her. (Just look away and say nothing.)
