Everything is going exactly as planned.

The haunting words echoed around the chamber. Candles flickered, casting shadows across the walls. A figure knelt on the broken stone steps of the altar. The familiar voice echoed in the chamber. A dark hooded cape draped across their body like a shadow. Raising their head, the hood fell off, revealing the long hair underneath.

"All it took was a little push, and they moved right away," she replied to her master. Her dark eyes watched as the shadows parted, revealing a humanoid shape. "Bitch couldn't even handle a simple nightmare."

Now she is finally within our reach.

Malicious laughter filled the air. It swirled through the chamber. She tensed, the words like smoke filling her lungs.

"Why do we need her, anyway?"

Instantly she was shoved backward, tumbling down the stairs. She sprawled on the floor, knees digging into the stone.

Do not forget your place.

The voice was harsh. She cried out in pain as claw marks appeared on her shoulder, ripping through her clothes.

"I-I'm sorry, m-master," she choked out. The pressure lifted, and she gasped in a ragged breath. The pain helped remind her of her place. She rose so that she could kneel again. "Thank you, master."

Now we shall wait. She thinks she is safe. They all do.

She looked up at her master and grinned in delight. They were close to achieving their goals. She couldn't wait to see them suffer. Her master had the perfect plan.

"They have no idea they've fallen right into your trap."
