Prologue

"Rebeeca Wilson, please come to the office," The announcement spoke. Everyone looked toward me as I got up and walked out of the class. I started to walk down to the office on the first floor. I opened the door, and that was when my life started to change.

"I swear, it wasn't me thi-" I said before getting cut off. "You are not in trouble, Rebecca," Mrs. Rodd said. "Your father is here to pick you up early," She added. "Hm."

We rode in the car in silence the whole way home. I opened the door and started to head up to my room before he stopped me. "Rebecca, wait. Come sit down." He called me over to the couch. I sat down on the couch, "What?" Looking up, he sighed and shook his head. "Your mom, well, you see. She.." He trailed off. "Did she shoplift again?" I asked. He nodded. "She is also accused of beating up an officer. The longest her sentence could be is three years." I sighed, and decided to go check on my brother.
