By the Sea

I walk down the beach, enjoying the view

Nothing to see, nothing to do

When I stop in my tracks because I see you

You do nothing at all, too

But watching the ocean Blue.

The sun dapples your light golden hair

Your eyes a color of green that is rare

Like green glass, lovely and fair

I force my lungs to breathe air

As you look up and return my stare.

You smile and motion for me

To come sit next to you by the sea

As I walk I think how wonderful it  will be

For me to be with you, she and he

And to just stare at the endless, breathtaking sea.

Children skitter about and play

Wearing away at the day

As we sit together at the beach in may

Laughing at what we both say

Wishing forever we could stay.

But as everyday must come to a close

I check my watch and put my sandals over my toes

And gradually I straighten and rose,

When you capture my hand and ask me

If you will see me again by the sea.
