L'enfant de la mar

Under the waves that roil

Reflecting golden sun rays

I swim among the the coral

Passing my eternal days

The kelp flickers with the tide

The fish dart about and hide

As I swim amongst the algae stones

And past forgotten bones

A shadow crosses overhead

A ship set out to sail

That floats about in the full moon's light

A lovely pearl lit pale

My fins slice the water

As I reach the surface crests

And I sing my mesmerizing melody

That brings the sailors to rest

And so I live below my waves

With only bones of sailors past

Among the phosphorescent coral ridges

Waiting for my day last

But so is my undying curse

With a voice like satin silk

That holds only a poison barb

To exist with only myself
