Y/n's body twitched with energy threatening to explode from any sort of ignition, and this Zircon's voice was like a flame to them. They really wanted her to shut up. Considering Yellow Diamond's obvious eye rolling, she shared their sentiment. The guards that had oh so politely escorted Y/n into the courtroom had long since left, so maybe they could get away with one rough nudge to her leg. Maybe.
"But I know what you're thinking!" Yellow Zircon said as she kneeled to Steven's height and gestured at him, "This thing doesn't look like a Rose Quartz! And for that, I'd like to call an eyewitness!"
All eyes fixed onto a pillar that rose from the ground in front of them, a ruby with a gem for an eye standing tall above the court. Eyeball glanced around at the crowd below her, her eye widening with recognition as she spotted two familiar faces. Eyeball offered Y/n a raised eyebrow as she observed the restraints around their limbs. Their Eminence was in cuffs, but Rose Quartz wasn't? That didn't make sense.
"Oh, Eyeball!" Steven exclaimed, a grin on his face. Eyeball snapped her attention back to Steven, a scowl on her face. "Do not address me, war criminal!" She growled, gripping the edge of the pedestal in anger. Steven flinched at the sudden vitriol being sent his way. He tucked his knees into his chest and looked down at his feet. "I'm just glad you're okay..." He mumbled sadly. Y/n's blood bubbled in rage at the sight, their teeth gnashing together to keep the scream that tickled in their throat down. They couldn't risk being taken away. Not yet at least.
"I heard it straight from her." Eyeball continued her testimony, "She said "I'm the mighty Rose Quartz! I've got her shield and everything!" And then she threw me... into space!"
"I tried to help you! I healed your gem!" Steven attempted to defend himself, but Eyeball slammed her fists into the pedestal.
"And who else has the ability to heal gems, other than the villainous Rose Quartz?!" She retorted. Her point having been made, Yellow Zircon allowed the pedestal to lower into the ground again. Eyeball met Y/n's gaze one final time, eager to have a chance to at least wave goodbye. Her gem burned with dread once she took a glance at their fiery expression.
Their body was rigid, save only the slight spasming of their shoulders. Their eyes burned with hatred and resentment, and their teeth glistened with a red so deep they rivaled her gemstone.
She might've found room to be impressed with the pure intimidation they exuded had it not been for the overwhelming fear and confusion muddling her feelings. Once the room had left her field of vision, she let out a shaky sigh of relief. Something about how Y/n looked at her made her want to never let her guard down near them. Hopefully she won't be needed any further.
"And there you have it! Rose Quartz did it and that's Rose Quartz. I rest my case." Yellow Zircon said smugly.
"Oh, she's good." Blue Zircon mumbled to herself. The admission was loud enough for the hyperaware human next to her, though.
"Oh, shut the hell up." Y/n hissed venomously. Blue Zircon glanced down at Y/n in shock. She wanted to say something back at them, but a loud clap sound startled the two from their stare down.
"Well, I'm convinced." Yellow Diamond began, an almost gleeful, or what Y/n assumed to be gleeful, expression on her face. Y/n's entire body lurched at the word. Their mouth opened, ready to shout in protest, but Blue Diamond spoke over them.
"Not yet. The defense still has to speak." The melancholy matriarch insisted, looking down at the blue Zircon. Blue Zircon jolted a bit as she was addressed, knocking her out of whatever stupor she had been pulled in to.
