"Switch on the TV, we may pick him up on channel two. Look out your window, I can see his light. If we can sparkle, he may land tonight." Rose Quartz sang to herself as she worked diligently on the small cape of flowers in her hands. Her fingers gently weaved the stems, pulling the different colored roses together.
The bright petals nestled up next to each other as she pulled the woven stems taut and she held it up to admire her work. Her eyes moved slowly back and forth as she tried to recognize which rose belonged to which person in Y/n's life.
Her fingers trailed delicately over the original roses that once made up a part of their crown, but now served as the collar of the new cape. Steven, Amethyst, Pearl, Garnet, Lars, Sadie, and Greg. A smile tugged at her lips as she rubbed a petal of Greg's rose tenderly, the soft texture soothing her as she fought back a tear.
Moving further down, she inspected the line of roses below. Lapis Lazuli, Peridot, Jenny, Buck, Sour Cream. Rose Quartz cooed as she brushed her knuckle over the white and yellow rose.
"Hi, Sour Cream~! Oh, I hope you're doing well. Have you and Y/n been getting along?" She asked the flower as she babied it. Giggling to herself, she started to move onto the Diamonds' roses but froze in fear as a light red petal fell in front of them. Her eyes followed it as it fluttered to the cloud floor, dried and browning.
It was dying.
More began to fall, and Rose Quartz looked up in horror at the rose representing Lars. The dusty red petals wilted and fell off of the stem at a rapid pace. Rose Quartz quickly laid the cape down and cupped the remaining petals with her hands.
"No... No, no, no, no! Why? What happened to you!?" Rose Quartz shouted as tears welled up in her eyes. She leaned over the decaying flower, pleading to herself as the tears fell onto the dead petals, but all it served to do was further crumble them.
She let out a panicked sob as the rose rotted fully, leaving just a dried bud hanging from the stem. Rose Quartz closed her eyes in dismay as she gently folded her hands over the hole.
"I'm so sorry, Lars. I'm so very sorry." She whispered shakily, her head hung low as she wept for the human.
Suddenly, she felt something tickling her palm. Opening her wet eyes, she moved her hands to reveal a hibiscus flower quickly blossoming in its place. Rose Quartz sniffled and wiped her eyes as she watched in confusion.
"What? How...?" She muttered as the flower fully bloomed; its petals unfurling and overtaking the space. She gasped and covered her mouth as the realization hit. She laughed in amazement and picked the cape up again, holding it in the air.
"Steven... Steven, you did it! Yes! Good job, Steven! Oh, I'm so proud of you!" She cheered, staring at the hibiscus with immense pride. She let out a huge sigh of relief and hugged the cape gently.
"Stars, don't scare me like that." She whispered as she tenderly pressed her wet cheek against the curtain of flowers.

Lars let out another groan as he held his head. "What the heck just happened?" He asked. Steven lurched forward and embraced Lars in a tight hug. Lars wheezed slightly as he was squeezed. Y/n also embraced him from the other side.
"Lars! You saved us!" Steven exclaimed in joy. Y/n laughed in disbelief and rested their face in the crook of Lars's neck.
"God, you scared the hell out of me, Lars!" They gasped, pulling away a bit. Y/n leaned forward and planted a grateful kiss on Lars's cheek. Lars blushed brightly and turned to look at Y/n in pure shock.
