No one's POV:

George felt an uncomfortable tingling in his gut as the trial began.

He sat on the bench as the entire courtroom was filled. George watched as Genevieve was the first one to be called on the stand, and concern and worry grew on George's face. Genevieve had never been to court before or testified, even though after all of the practice and the prepping by both Barba and Cabot, George still felt uneasy.

Genevieve's heart was pounding like someone was hitting a wall with a hammer over and over and over again, which didn't help. She walked up to the stand and took a seat which felt cold and uncomfortable, she hated it. Then she placed her hand on the Bible and swore to tell the truth, the entire truth, and nothing but the truth.

"Mrs. Genevieve Church, how long have you known your adopted brother, George Huang?" Barba asked.

A soft and warm smile grew on Genevieve's face as memories rushed back.

"Oh, ever since I was born. He was the best thing that ever happened in my life, he's the sweetest. He took care of me at the age of 3 years old, and he has looked after me ever since." Genevieve explained truthfully.

"What was it like growing up in a conservative Christian household?" Barba asked.

"It was very strict. Mother and father were very traditional when it came to their rules and how they raised us." Genevieve explained.

"Please explain further," Barba said.

"It was pretty clear from mother and father's rules-boys will be boys and girls will be girls. The son has to be a strong masculine man, he has to work for the family and be a hard-working husband. The daughter has to be a polite feminine woman, she has to be a wife and get married, so she can have children with her husband," Genevieve begins to explain.

"Our parents drilled into that ever since we were born. Boys and men don't cry, they have to join activities, they have to play sports, and work out on the field, that's how you become a man. Girls and women always have to be polite to everyone around them, they have to cook, clean, and take care of their siblings or children, but mostly have to be a good wife to their husband," Genevieve continues.

"What about punishment?" Barba asked.

"It was very strict and harsh when it came to punishments. Mother and father believed that if you make a mistake, even the smallest ones, you'll be punished and will pay for the consequences of your actions," Genevieve continues.

"What kind of punishments would Mr and Mrs. Church do?" Barba asked.

"It was physical. You would be hit and spanked until your skin turns red. You won't be given dinner, water, or take a bath, you will be locked in the basement if you break the rules," Genevieve explained.

"Is that what your parents to George Huang?" Barba asked.

Genevieve nodded her head.

"Yes," Genevieve answered truthfully.
