Selection 6: Secrets Unfolded.

[Madiline's POV]

"Mmmm," I sounded as I started to come through to the world again. I couldn't bare to open my eyes as my memories came back to me, I killed my home town. I killed all my friends and family. This was all my fault...

My tears fell from my eyes as I laid on the grassy soft ground. I failed them, completely failed them.

"You mind not crying on me?" My head popped up with that voice, and I realized I was sitting up right with a sheet over me. I moved it out of the way, and was shocked when I saw me sitting on Sire's tail, as he walked slowly.

"I-I-I'm sorry Sire, forgive me." I answered unconvincingly.

"You really want to make it up to me, then figure out how to turn me into a wolf again." He answered me back, and kept moving. "You know, your pretty light for how big you are."

"How rude, I am not big at all!" I snapped trying to climb off him, but he grasped onto my hands saying, "Go back to bed runt, we got a long way to go, and you pushed yourself past your limit. Here, eat these berries. Their edible but don't mean their good. Saw them in your herbs book. Said their good to gain strength. I obviously don't need them, but you do."

I sighed, nodding. I grabbed the small pouch and chowed down on the bitter berries. My stomach was great fun for the food, despite what my tongue was saying.

I ended up uncomfortably wrapping my arms around Sire's waist, and closed my eyes. As weird as it was to say, I did need my rest.

My eyes slowly opened as I noticed we had stopped. I sat up looking around, but wolf was no where in sight. The woods laid deadly all around, that is, until I heard it. Sire's sad all too human howl. He didn't realize it, but he could speak English if he wanted too. He had the same vocals as me now, but with me he still has part of that wolf in him. He only spoke wolf so when I talk to him, it sounds like his language. If anyone else was to talk to him, only then could he finally learn it.

I pulled out my spell book, going page after page reading. Weather corruption, Electric Shock, Animal Calls, Ghostly Energy, everything you could possibly think of, but it wasn't in here.

I sighed, Gona told me that the book was unfinished. The last page was titled, Greed's Strength Compactly. It was what turned you into a wolf once a month on the fool moon. Maybe if I did the spell on him, then he would turn into a wolf again, and stay a wolf. But, which ever witch wrote this book, they never finished.

I sighed, getting up and walking to his cries. Once I did find him, I saw that he was panting. "How is it that I wanted so badly to be human again when I was young, but now I can't stand it? I can't run as fast as I used to and be free, I can't howl louder than my pack with it only growing as it went on, just getting shorter. I can't even smell animals out, let alone catch them. Why would anyone want to be this? Be weak. Always left afraid."

I actually felt bad for the guy. I sat down next to where he stood saying, "The book is unfinished. The spell to turn you into a wolf again wasn't in there. I'm sorry. If I could talk to another witch, we may be able to do the spell, but not until then."

"That won't happen until I get to my old pack, and tell them about my new form if they are interested in listening." With that, he sat next to me and laid down. "You don't remember me, do you?"

"What are you talking about? Your right here Sire, we have a pact together. I can and never will forget you." I told him soft and sadly, laying back too.

"No Madiline, before we made that stupid pact so I knew I would get fed. The day before I found you standing there with the basket of bread, you don't remember me going to you, do you?" The wolf asked me, and I stared at him confused. "No. No of course you don't you were just a baby!" He growled, "Ugh, fool I! Forget I said anything!" And with that, he was off and heading back into the woods.
