"Richie, come on, we're gonna be late" Stanley Uris growled as he hastily slid his paperwork into his satchel.
"Come on, Stan, it's too early for this shit. We have time for a coffee at least" Richie Tozier countered.
"Rich, I got papers I need to sort through in my office for that meeting later. Even if we did grab a coffee, Grinders is too far now"
"Nah, not Grinders, I know another shop not too far from here, we'll grab a quick cup and still have time to do work or whatever"
Stan rolled his eyes impatiently.
"You're such a child" he said begrudgingly. "Fine, but the redeye better be good"
Richie smiled.
"Attaboy. Trust me, you'll like it. The barista serves a mean cup of joe"
"What's this place called?" Stan inquired.
"Uh, what was it, something catchy...oh, The Daily Drip or something like that"
"Hmm" Stan hummed. "Funny"
"Wow, was that a laugh? Or an attempt?" Richie teased.
"Oh, shut up"
"After you" Richie said with a smirk, leading the way into the coffee shop. "Ahh, don't you just love that smell?"
"Yeah, it is nice. Pretty clean too"
"What I tell, ya, huh? Wait till you try the brew"
Richie went ahead to order his coffee, while Stan browsed the quaint little shop. He could hear Richie laugh with the young man at the counter as if he knew him previously.
"Hey, can I help you with anything?" a soft voice asked.
Slightly startled, he looked up to see a different young man with auburn hair and friendly blue eyes.
"Oh hey, uh, just browsing I guess"
The young man smiled.
"Sure, lemme know if I can get you anything"
"Uh, actually, I'd like a cup of redeye, extra shot please" Stan flustered.
"Sure, be right back"
Stan sat at the barstools at the counter while he waited and watched as Richie seemed to flirt with the other young man at the register.
The young man with blue eyes came back in record time with Stan's coffee and gently set it in front of him.
"Thank you. So, those two know each other, huh?" Stan asked.
"Oh yeah, Richie's one of our regulars, I think he went to high school with Eddie or something"
"That so?"
"To be honest, I think Eddie has a crush on him" he whispered, leaning closer to Stan.
Stan chuckled.
