Chapter thirty.
After the phone call with my mother, she eventually handed over the phone to my father, since she started crying her eyes out when I said that I missed them, I take a bath. Enjoying the quietness of my own.
By the kitchen counter I sit down to write a list of all the things I need to get from the store.
I type in the supermarket on my GPS on my phone and it is only a fifteen minutes' walk away from Niall's apartment so I bring my headphones and walk outside.
It is only four o'clock so I got plenty of time.
The sky is cloudy and it will probably start raining any moment, I feel it hanging in the air. I have never actually been in Brooklyn before, this is the first time I am leaving the apartment, if you don't count the day before yesterday when Niall and I picked up take out.
I arrive at the store within fifteen minutes and I grab a cart. I am getting something with chicken, but I don't really know what. On my phone I find a lot of recipes, and finally decide on one of them. They all sound so good and tasty.
When I am heading towards the checkouts my phone buzzes in my back pocket."Hi, Niall" I say with a smile.
"Where the hell are you?!" he almost shouts and I stop in my track, frowning.
"I am at the grocery market, I didn't think you would be home until later"
"Well, I am home now, I told you to stay here!"
"I am just getting some dinner, I invited Gina and Louis for dinner tonight" I say and meeting a long silence. "Niall?"
"Yes, okay. Where are you, I'm coming and pick you up"
"That's fine-"
"Addie. Where are you?" he asks firmly.
I tell him the address and pay for the food. Just as I thought, it is now pouring down and as I pack the groceries into bags I decide on waiting inside for Niall to arrive, since my umbrella is still at the Wood's. To my surprise I see the white Range Rover parked outside the entrance a few seconds later.
He jumps out of the car and hurries over to me, embraces me in a tight hug."You got me so worried" he whispers.
"It's nothing. I'm fine" I ensure him.
He takes the bags from my hands and place them in the back as I jump into the passenger seat.
"We should get you a car" he simply states, driving out of the lot.
"I don't have any money to buy my own car, Niall. I don't even have a job!"
He stays silent, staring at the road the whole drive back to his apartment, which take like five minutes.
When we reach the apartment I start making dinner and he takes a shower. Gina calls, letting me know she is getting of her shift earlier and I start making dinner just as Niall walks out the shower.
He sits down by the counter with a beer, I have never seen him drinking before. I actually didn't think he drank.
I am frying the chicken and come to think about something, and I can't keep my mouth shut."Niall?" I get some cream from the fridge. "When are you going to tell me about your brother?"
This, probably isn't the best time to ask him, because he seems kind of upset since he got back home from wherever he was, but for the last couple of days that thought about what happened to his brother has been interrupting my mind more than once.
I turn around to face him and he stares at me."Well?" I contradict, his eyes still on mine, still quiet.
We have a staring contest and I frown at him. He opens his mouth a couple of times but doesn't say anything.
"Niall!" I say out loud. "I thought this secret, mysterious thing was over? But I guess not"
He stands up, leaving me all alone in the kitchen and heads towards his office. I sigh and continue with the food.
I really thought this was over, sure, he hadn't let me in, he didn't tell me where he went, but something was different.
He cared for me more now. Or at least that's what I thought.*can't beliee 30 chapters. wohu.
