c h a p t e r || 22

Chapter twenty-two.

 Louis and Gina is leaning over the kitchen island with a respective glass of wine in their hand. We laugh at something Louis said, mocking my British accent.

At one moment I look out the window and Mr. Wood is catching my eye. He is swimming around with the kids. Michelle has yellow arm puffs, Naomie sits on her dads shoulder and Leo just makes a water bomb and splashes the rest of the family down.

 "Mommy!" Michelle shouts. "Come and bath with us!"
Molly walks outside to her family.

 "This is family is wicked!" Louis states quietly. "I mean, Molly, she is lovely, but her husband..." he makes a grimace and Gina and I exchange look, thinking exactly the same.

 "When does your father arrive?" I ask to change the subject.

 "Tonight, he thought around ten or so..." I nod my head and we all watch the family joke around in the pool. I even see a smile on Mr. Wood's lips and this must be the first time I see him happy. See him smile.

 "Why can't we ask if Niall can come?" Gina interrupts my thoughts of no one other than Mr. Wood himself.

 "Mr. Wood doesn't like him..." I simply state.

 "So what? I can call my father and tell him that I'm bringing another friend. He won't mind!"

 I shrug my shoulders, not knowing if I want Niall there or not. I'm doubting on him. Everything with him is so weird. I don't know what I feel for him, if I want to have feelings for him or not. I loved the way he kissed me, his body right next to mine. But one thing I can't understand is that one moment he is all sweet and really wonderful, and the next thing he is so secretive and mysterious.

"Addie?" Gina wakes me up by touching my arm. "Louis' calling Niall right now"

 The only thing I can do is nod. They have already decided. "It's fine"

I change into my pink bikini and take my towel outside and sit down on one of the deck chairs that are lined up next to the pool. Molly lies down in the next one while the kids are playing with in the water their father.

 "Ehm, Molly?" Gina steps out from the living room with her glass of wine in her hand. "Is it okay if a friend of ours comes to visit? Dad said it was okay"

 "Yeah of course, dear. Who is it?"

"Niall Horan... Do you know him?"

 "I know of him" Molly turns head to me and I glare at Gina behind my sunglasses. Mr. Wood is hearing everything and jumps out the water.

 "Wait a minute! Is this really a good idea!" it is more like a statement than a question. "This is not a kindergarten...You can't just bring your friends out here whenever you want to"

"We are not. I asked my father, he was okay with it. And we are 19. We are almost adults" Gina answers against Mr. Wood.

 "You are not adults..."

 "Enough!" Molly interrupts her husband and stands up and walks over to him. "Ben, I need to talk to you" She turns around and meet Gina's eyes. "It is absolutely okay if he comes. No problem! Will you watch the kids while we go grocery shopping?"
We all nod our heads and as soon as they left I let out a heavy breath.

 "See! I told you he didn't like him" I whisper to Gina as she settles down next to me and Louis has jumped into the water.

 "Whatever. He is such a d-i-k-c!"
We giggle at her misspelling.

 "I really can't understand that you stood up against him. It looked like..." I find no words but luckily Gina does.

 "... Like he was going to bite my head off?" We giggle again and Gina turns on the speakers and "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon plays loudly and we jump into the pool.

 The whole atmosphere is completely different when Mr. Wood is not around. It is way more relaxed.

 "Can we play volleyball?" Leo asks and we all think it's a good idea. "I get the net and the ball" he is gone in a second and we laugh and walk down to the beach. Michelle is bringing a bucket and shovel to build a sand castle.
