I shut my laptop, grabbed my purse and keys, and ran out the door. I jumped into my car and headed off to one of the three jobs that I held. Yes, I had three jobs because I needed to pay rent, pay for food, and all that stuff; I was completely self-sufficient. I had to be. I had to be that way, considering that I had cut ties with my direct family. It's a long story.

I pulled up into the club parking lot and parked. I went in through the back entrance and headed to the dressing room. A chorus of hellos welcomed me into the warm room. The room was filled with drag queens. Drag queens that I helped get ready every other day during the week. They all came up to me, their heels clicking as they approached, and wrapped me in a tight, loving group hug. I considered these lovely people to be my family. But yeah, that's right. I help with drag shows; I help backstage and with getting the queens ready.

"So, Ms. Iris, how was your day today?" Ginger Minj asked in her thick southern accent as she contoured her face.
"Did you meet any cute guys... or girls?" Violet Chachki asked as a grin spread itself across her face.
"You used protection, right?"Katya asked. We all erupted into laughter.
"Well, the prince of my school totally rejected my friend; but he was a total dick about it," I answered as I zipped the back of Pearl's dress.
"Oh my god!' Trixie cried as she looked at me through her mirror.
"Yeah. I know right. But we went out for food and swore off dating him and junk," I added as I handed Kennedy eyelash glue.
"Well that's good. We're proud of you sweetheart," Miss Fame smiled before coming over and hugging me.

After the show, I went out the back and headed towards my car. As I reached it, I saw none other than Mr. Anime Shade striding down the sidewalk towards the club. 'What the HELL is he doing out here?' I thought as i got into my car and pulled out. I passed by him as I left, and for a moment I could've sworn that he was looking at me.
