You lay in your hospital bed, or whatever you would like to call it. The sun's light pours through the window. You don't know what day it is, or how long you've been here. There is a silence in the air, a serious silence. The kind that comes with waiting for an important event to occur. The only audible noise is the sniffling of tears coming from Diamond. Diamond is sitting next to your bed, her tear filled eyes staring into your face with her hand on your chest. When she sees that your eyes are open, she stops crying. She whispers joyfully "You're awake. Are you alright?"
I look back at her and whisper in return. "Diamond, do you trust me?"
She looks confused about this question but responds, "Well, you did save my sister's life. So why shouldn't I trust you."
"Just checking. Now, where am I?"
"You're in the bed of an inn in the small town of Hiddegy to the south of Glenwood Castle. We brought you here when we found you on the road passed out." Her eyes start to water again. "I was so worried about you. We didn't know what had happened or if you were alright. I was just so scared."
"Yes, I'm sure you were. Tell me, what's going on? Why am I here? How did you find me? What is the Writer's master plan?"
"Well, I don't know who the Writer is. Do you want me to just tell you everything I know?"
"No. You don't know anything. I want you to tell me everything the Writer knows."
"I'm so confused."
"Yes, you are."
"I can just tell you what happened, I don't need to know about the Writer to say that."
"No, it isn't what I want to hear, it would just waste my time. I'm getting out of here." I stand up.
The nurse steps over and pushes you back in bed. "You're not going anywhere in your condition." She says sternly. "You'll be here for a few days at least." Diamond puts her hand on your forehead. "You're burning up," she says, "How about you lay back and get comfortable. I'll tell you what happened while you rest."
"No. I don't have a fever. I'm fine. This is just the Writer making you think I have a fever."
"Shhh," Diamond puts her finger to your lips. "Don't speak like that. You just need to rest and everything will be alright."
"I don't need to rest, I've been in this bed for too long already. I need to get out of here." I get up and walk out of the inn.
You walk out through the door on the left side of the room and exit the inn. But before you can go very far, you stagger and fall over. The nurse and Paul run out to find you on the ground. Paul picks you up in his strong arms and bring you back to your bed. Once you are laid under your covers once more the nurse says to Paul, "He must be delusional from lack of water. This is more serious than I had thought."
Paul replies as if you can't hear him,"Maybe I should talk to him. I think that some friendly words will make him realize what's best." Paul walks over to your bedside and sits down on a stool. "Hey buddy, I can tell that something's making you upset. I feel like it's all my fault for leaving you all alone. I should have known something was wrong. What can I do to help you out? I can get you some food, more water, another blanket. Is there anything I can do to help you feel better?"
"Yeah, there is. Get me out of here."
"Come now, the nurse is here to help you. This is a safe place. Why do you want to leave?"
"Because I can not stay in a bed while my world is being controlled by a maniac!"
"Please calm down, everything will be alright. I'll go get you some more water."
