It has been many weeks, many long, boring weeks. Weeks filled with boring political stuff and talking to whining peasants. Many weeks of work upon work upon work. Many weeks of solitude, even though you are surrounded by servants and dukes. There is no one to talk to, everyone is scared of getting on your bad side, or offending you, because you are the King. That's what happens when you're king, you get so much respect that people fall over the respect mountain and roll into the "I think it's safer to just not talk to him" ocean. Where they drown and become annoying squirmy wormies. You've spent many weeks of waiting for the woman in red to respond to your request, but you've heard nothing. Many weeks of waiting for your army to return with the jewel. Many weeks of sitting in a golden throne, all, day, long. Sure, you've done some fun things, but they got old fast. I mean, you can't go hunting, play chess, and eat from your private restaurant your whole life. It's been many weeks, many weeks of waiting for something to happen.

This is so boring. If I'd known this is what it was like to be a king, I would have never become one in the first place. Although the power is pretty great, can't go wrong with bucket tons of power. It's also given me some time to think. As king, I still have my weaknesses. If I were to die, my legacy would end. If my life were a game, I would lose at that point. All my work would be lost forever. Unless, I had an heir to the throne, then I could live on. Being remembered for ages to come. Then I would win. If the Writer exists, which after lots of thinking I am now fairly positive that he does, I want to beat him. I want him to be put to shame, and show him that I'm better than him in every way. I have more power, and I am supreme.

Just then, a messenger bursts through the main doors.

"Messenger, what news do you bring me?"

"Well sir, I have good news, bad news, and good news."

"Well, what is it lad? Spit it out!"

"Well, the first thing is that your army has successfully brought back the jewel."

"Splendid, what could the bad news be?" Take that, Writer scum!

"Well, the dragon has killed your entire army, your majesty. Only one soldier survived to return the jewel, and then he died as well."

"Oh. Oh my. That is bad news." Well played Writer, well played. "What could the good news possibly be then?"

"The woman in red, as you call her sir, has responded to your invitation. She sent this letter." He hands you a scroll, tied with a scarlet ribbon.

I snatch it from his hands, untie the ribbon and read it eagerly.

It reads,

Your Royal Highness,

I accept your invitation to dinner. I am a very busy woman, and I believe you to be busy as well. I have proposed that we meet on the night of the full moon. I don't care where we eat, in fact I enjoy surprises. Can't wait until then. See you in the courtyard under the light of the moon.

Sincerely, An Angel ♥

This is wonderful. She has accepted, finally something exciting around here. Take that Writer, I win.

"Your Majesty, what should we do about your army? We are defenseless."

"Oh right, my army, of course. Set up drafting and training for a new army. Quickly, go make my decree known!" Time for me to prepare for my date.

A few days pass, but no one wants to join your army, jerk.

Jerk? Fine, I force the draft because I'm king. I also give soldiers tax benefits, free weapons, and a ticket to a royal banquet. That should make them happy.
