Morning sunlight spilled through Y/N's bedroom window, warming the soft blankets around her. Her alarm clock flashed 8:17 a.m., but the buzzing alarm that should've woken her hours earlier had been silenced in her sleep. For a few peaceful seconds she just lay there, half-asleep, unaware of the time.
Then her eyes snapped open.
"Wait—what?" she mumbled, turning her head toward the clock. Her heart jumped. "Oh my God!"
School had already started.
Y/N quickly sat up, her hair messy and falling around her shoulders. She had fallen asleep the night before completely exhausted after everything that had happened—Ghostface, the police, her mom bringing her home early, and Billy's surprise visit through the window.
She rubbed her eyes and stretched, realizing she had fallen asleep in just her yellow lace bra and matching underwear after changing out of her clothes the night before. The silky pink pajamas she had meant to wear were still folded on the edge of her bed.
"Great," she muttered to herself. "First I almost get attacked by a killer, now I'm late for school."
She swung her legs out of bed and walked toward her dresser, opening a drawer to grab something to wear. Her room was quiet except for the faint sounds of the house downstairs—dishes clinking in the kitchen and Heather laughing about something. Apparently her siblings had already left or were about to.
As Y/N searched for a shirt, she didn't hear the faint creak of her bedroom window sliding open.
A shadow slipped quietly into the room.
Billy climbed through the window with the same ease he had the night before, landing lightly on the floor. He paused for a moment, watching Y/N as she stood at her dresser, completely unaware he was there.
A small smirk crossed his face.
He stepped closer, his footsteps quiet against the carpet.
Y/N was still digging through her drawer when she suddenly felt someone behind her. Before she could react, a pair of hands gently settled on her waist.
She gasped and spun around quickly.
"Billy?!"
He looked amused, dark hair slightly messy from climbing through the window. "Good morning to you too."
Y/N stared at him in disbelief, her heart racing from the surprise. "Are you serious right now?" she whispered loudly. "You can't just keep climbing through my window!"
Billy shrugged casually. "Technically I just did."
She crossed her arms instinctively, half annoyed and half embarrassed. "My parents are literally downstairs."
"Relax," he said with a crooked grin. "I checked. Your mom's on the phone in the kitchen."
Y/N shook her head, trying to process the situation. "Why are you even here?"
Billy leaned against her desk like he belonged there. "I came to see if you were okay."
She raised an eyebrow.
"You already did that last night."
"Yeah," he said. "But you got attacked again yesterday at school. Kind of hard not to worry."
The seriousness in his voice caught her off guard.
For a moment the joking faded, and the memory of Ghostface in the bathroom rushed back—the mask, the knife, the way he had cornered her.
Y/N looked down for a second before sighing. "I'm fine... just tired."
Billy studied her carefully. "You look like you didn't sleep much."
"I didn't," she admitted.
The room fell quiet for a moment.
Then Billy glanced at the clock and smirked again. "You realize school started like... twenty minutes ago, right?"
Y/N's eyes widened again.
"Oh my God!"
She rushed back to her dresser, grabbing clothes and tossing them onto the bed. Billy watched the chaos with amusement as she scrambled around the room trying to get ready.
"You're enjoying this way too much," she muttered.
"Maybe," he said.
She pointed toward the window while pulling on a shirt. "And you need to leave before my mom comes upstairs and sees you climbing out of my room like some kind of criminal."
Billy pushed himself off the desk and walked back toward the window.
Before climbing out, he glanced back at her.
"Lock your window after I leave," he said. "Seriously."
Y/N paused, sensing the shift in his tone again.
"Why?" she asked.
Billy shrugged, but his eyes were darker than before.
"Just saying," he replied. "Woodsboro isn't exactly safe right now."
With that, he climbed back out the window and disappeared.
Y/N walked over and shut the window behind him, locking it this time. She stood there for a second, staring outside at the quiet street.
Ghostface was still out there somewhere.
And somehow, things in Woodsboro kept getting stranger
