The bus screeched to a stop in front of Woodsboro High, and before it had even fully settled, Y/N was already halfway out of her seat.

"Move, move—sorry!" she rushed past a few students, clutching her backpack as she hurried down the aisle.

"Dang, you're really late," Heather called after her, amused.

"I KNOW!" Y/N shot back before jumping off the bus.

The second her feet hit the pavement, she broke into a run. Students were already heading into the building, some lingering and talking, others giving her curious looks as she rushed past them.

Her boots hit the concrete quickly as she sprinted toward the entrance, pushing through the front doors and into the crowded hallway.

"Excuse me—sorry—coming through!" she said, weaving between people.

Her heart pounded—not just from running, but from the constant pressure of everything lately. Being late was stressful enough, but with everything happening in Woodsboro, every second alone made her feel on edge.

She finally reached her locker, fumbling with the combination.

"Come on... come on..." she muttered, hands slightly shaky.

Click.

The locker swung open.

She quickly grabbed her books, shoving them into her bag without even organizing them properly. A notebook slipped and fell to the floor.

"Great," she sighed, crouching to grab it.

The hallway bell echoed loudly.

Her stomach dropped.

"I'm so late."

She slammed her locker shut and took off down the hall again, rushing toward her classroom. The halls were starting to clear out now, most students already inside.

Y/N reached the door and pushed it open quickly—

—and stopped.

The classroom was empty.

Completely empty.

No teacher.

No students.

Just silence.

Her breathing slowed as confusion replaced her panic.

"...What?"

She stepped inside cautiously, the door creaking shut behind her. The room felt different—too still, too quiet. The fluorescent lights hummed faintly above her.

"Hello?" she called out softly.

No answer.

Her grip tightened on her backpack strap.

Something felt off.

She took a few steps further into the room, her eyes scanning the desks, the windows, the corners—

Suddenly—

The door behind her clicked.

Y/N spun around—

—and Billy stepped out from behind it.

"Looking for someone?" he said casually.

Y/N jumped, her heart practically leaping out of her chest. "Oh my God, Billy!"

He smirked, clearly entertained. "You're easy to scare."

She pressed a hand to her chest, trying to steady her breathing. "Why do you keep doing that?!"

"Doing what?" he asked innocently.

"Popping up out of nowhere like a psycho!" she snapped.

Billy shrugged, walking further into the room like he belonged there. "Relax. I just saw you sprinting through the halls like your life depended on it."

"I'm late!" Y/N said, gesturing around. "And apparently... no one's even here."

Billy leaned against a desk, arms crossed. "Yeah. Class got moved. Substitute didn't show or something."

Y/N blinked. "You're kidding."

"Nope."

She let out a frustrated breath, dropping her bag onto a desk. "So I ran all the way here for nothing."

"Pretty much," Billy said with a slight grin.

Y/N shook her head, brushing her hair back. "This day just keeps getting better."

For a moment, the room fell quiet again—but this time, it didn't feel as tense.

Billy studied her for a second. "You okay?"

Y/N hesitated, then nodded. "Yeah... just tired."

He didn't look fully convinced, but he didn't push.

"Well," he said, pushing off the desk, "at least you're not late anymore."

She gave him a small look. "That's not how that works."

"Feels like it should count," he replied.

Y/N let out a small breath of laughter despite herself.

But as the silence settled again, she couldn't shake the feeling from earlier—the emptiness of the room, the quiet, the way her instincts had immediately gone on edge.

Even with Billy there, something about being alone in a classroom in Woodsboro didn't feel safe anymore.

And that feeling... wasn't going away.
