Y/N stepped out of the classroom, her mind still spinning from what had just happened with Billy. The crowded hallway suddenly felt too loud, too bright, and way too overwhelming. Students moved past her in groups, laughing and talking, completely unaware of the tension twisting in her chest.
She tightened her grip on her backpack strap and glanced down at the crumpled schedule in her hand.
"Okay... room 212," she muttered to herself. "Where even is that?"
She started down the hallway, weaving through students while trying to ignore the awkward replay of Billy kissing her. Every time she thought about it, guilt hit her immediately.
Sidney was her friend.
And now things felt messy in a way she didn't want them to.
Y/N turned the corner near the science wing, still distracted, when she spotted two familiar figures leaning against a row of lockers ahead.
Stu and Billy.
Stu noticed her first and grinned immediately. "There she is."
Billy looked up beside him, his expression unreadable for a second before the corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
Y/N slowed her steps a little, already suspicious.
"What?" she asked cautiously as she approached.
"Nothing," Stu replied way too quickly, exchanging a look with Billy.
Y/N narrowed her eyes. "Why are you both standing here like you're waiting for someone?"
"We were waiting for you," Stu admitted with a shrug.
"Why?"
Billy pushed himself off the lockers. "You looked confused earlier."
"I am confused," Y/N said. "This school makes no sense."
Stu laughed. "Yeah, Woodsboro High's kind of a maze."
As they started walking with her down the hall, Y/N became very aware of the fact that both of them kept glancing her way. Not in a threatening way—more like they were studying her reactions, teasing her because they knew she was flustered.
"You know," Stu said casually, "you almost sprinted into the wrong classroom earlier."
Y/N groaned. "Please don't remind me."
Billy smirked faintly. "It was kind of entertaining."
"Oh, glad my suffering's funny."
"It was a little funny," Stu admitted.
Y/N shook her head, trying not to laugh despite herself.
Around them, students rushed to class as the warning bell rang overhead. The hallway buzzed with noise, locker doors slamming and conversations echoing off the walls.
"So where are you actually supposed to be?" Billy asked.
"English," Y/N replied, checking her schedule again. "Room 212."
Stu pointed down the hall dramatically. "Lucky for you, your personal tour guides know exactly where that is."
"You two are not my tour guides."
"Too late," Stu said. "We already accepted the job."
Billy stayed quieter beside her, though Y/N could still feel the tension from earlier lingering underneath everything else. Every time she glanced his way, she remembered what happened in the empty classroom.
And every time she remembered, guilt twisted in her stomach again.
Finally, they stopped outside a classroom door.
"Room 212," Billy said simply.
Y/N looked up at the number above the door and let out a relieved breath. "Thank God."
Stu placed a hand dramatically over his chest. "Another successful mission."
"You're ridiculous," Y/N said, laughing a little.
"That's why people like me."
The final bell rang loudly through the hallway.
Y/N adjusted her backpack and reached for the classroom door. "Thanks... I guess."
Stu gave her a grin while Billy just nodded slightly.
As Y/N stepped into class, she glanced back one more time. Stu was still joking around, but Billy was already watching her quietly from the hallway.
The look in his eyes made her stomach twist again—not because it was scary, but because it reminded her that things between them had changed.
And she wasn't sure what to do about it. Y/N took a deep breath before pushing open the classroom door to Room 212. The second she stepped inside, the sound of talking and shuffling papers faded.
Every head in the room turned toward her.
Great.
Her cheeks immediately warmed as she stood frozen in the doorway, still slightly out of breath from rushing across the school. Her backpack hung awkwardly off one shoulder, and a strand of hair had fallen loose across her face.
At the front of the room, the teacher paused mid-sentence and looked over his glasses at her.
"Nice of you to join us, Y/N," he said evenly.
A few students snickered quietly.
Y/N swallowed hard. "Sorry," she muttered.
The teacher crossed his arms lightly. "Would you care to explain why you're twenty minutes late to class?"
The room went completely silent.
Y/N could practically feel everyone staring at her, waiting for an answer. Some students leaned forward in their seats, obviously curious. Others whispered softly to each other.
She glanced around the room nervously before speaking.
"I overslept this morning," she admitted. "Then I missed part of the bus because I was rushing, and when I got here I couldn't find the classroom because I thought the room changed."
More quiet laughter spread through the class.
Y/N cringed internally.
"But," she added quickly, "I did find the room eventually."
That earned a few more laughs, even from the teacher.
He sighed, though there was a slight smile on his face now. "Well, I'm glad you managed to solve the mystery of Room 212."
A couple students laughed louder at that.
Y/N awkwardly adjusted her backpack strap. "Yeah... me too."
The teacher shook his head lightly before gesturing toward an empty seat near the middle of the room. "Go ahead and sit down before you miss the entire class."
"Thanks," Y/N said quickly.
As she hurried to her seat, she could still feel people watching her. A few students whispered as she passed, though she tried not to focus on it.
When she finally sat down, she let out a quiet breath of relief and pulled out her notebook.
From across the room, she noticed Tatum giving her an amused grin.
"Rough morning?" she mouthed silently.
Y/N nodded dramatically.
Tatum laughed softly before turning back around in her chair.
The teacher resumed the lesson, writing notes across the board while students copied them down. Slowly, the attention shifted away from Y/N, and the tension in her shoulders eased.
Still, her morning replayed in her head nonstop.
Oversleeping.
Billy climbing through her window.
Getting lost.
Billy kissing her.
Seeing him again in the hallway.
Everything felt chaotic already, and it wasn't even lunchtime yet.
Y/N rested her chin in her hand and stared down at her notebook, trying to focus on class.
But deep down, she had a feeling the drama in Woodsboro was only getting started.
