Y/N rushed around her room, grabbing the first outfit she could piece together. She pulled on a pair of jeans, a fitted top, and quickly slipped into her black boots, barely taking time to fix her hair. Her heart was still racing—not just from being late, but from Billy randomly climbing through her window… again.
“Focus,” she muttered to herself, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
She gave her window one last look, making sure it was locked this time, then bolted out of her room and down the stairs two at a time.
“Y/N!” Ava’s voice called from the kitchen. “You’re still here? You’re going to be late!”
“I know!” Y/N rushed into the kitchen, slightly out of breath. She grabbed a piece of toast from the counter and stuffed it in her mouth.
Heather sat at the table, already dressed and ready, watching her with a grin. “Rough morning?”
“You have no idea,” Y/N mumbled through a bite of toast.
James leaned back in his chair. “The bus is coming in like five minutes.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. “Five minutes?!”
“Maybe less,” he added, clearly enjoying her panic.
Y/N quickly grabbed a juice bottle from the fridge and her backpack from the counter. “Why didn’t anyone wake me up?!”
Ava raised an eyebrow. “I tried. You wouldn’t move.”
“Great,” Y/N muttered, taking another quick bite. “Amazing. Love that for me.”
Heather laughed. “You look like you just ran a marathon.”
“I basically did,” Y/N shot back, heading toward the door.
“Wait!” Ava called, handing her a granola bar. “Take this. You need more than just toast.”
“Thanks, Mom!” Y/N said, already halfway out the door.
The cool morning air hit her as she sprinted down the driveway, her backpack bouncing against her shoulder. She could already see the bus at the end of the street.
“Hold on!” she shouted, waving her arm.
Heather and James followed behind at a much calmer pace, clearly not in any rush. Y/N ran faster, her boots pounding against the pavement as she tried to make it in time.
The bus doors were just about to close when she finally reached it.
“WAIT!” she called out one last time.
The driver paused and opened the doors again.
Y/N climbed on, slightly out of breath, brushing hair out of her face. “Thank you,” she said quickly.
The driver nodded, and she made her way down the aisle, feeling everyone’s eyes on her. A few students whispered, probably about her being late—or everything else going on in Woodsboro.
She slid into a seat, finally catching her breath.
Heather and James climbed on right after and sat nearby, both looking way too amused.
“You made it,” James said.
“Barely,” Y/N replied, leaning back in her seat.
As the bus pulled away, Y/N stared out the window, her thoughts slowly catching up with her.
Being late was one thing.
But between Ghostface, the attacks, and Billy sneaking into her room… something felt off.
And she couldn’t shake the feeling that today wasn’t going to be a normal day either.Start writing your story
