It was between classes, and Y/N had ducked into the bathroom to get a quick break from the busyness of the hallways. She splashed some cold water on her face, hoping to shake off the sleepiness that lingered from her restless night. Just as she was drying her hands, she heard the door creak open, followed by the hushed giggles of two girls she didn't recognize.

They didn't notice her at the sink, hidden by the stalls, so Y/N stood quietly, not wanting to draw attention. She couldn't help but overhear their conversation.

"Did you hear about Sidney's mom?" one girl whispered. Her tone was casual, but there was a tinge of cruel curiosity in her voice.

"Yeah, everyone's talking about it," the other girl replied, almost gleefully. "It's just so... messed up. And you know people think Sidney's weird because of it, right?"

The first girl laughed. "I know, right? Like, no wonder she keeps to herself. Her mom's murder must've seriously messed her up."

Y/N felt a flash of anger bubble up. She wanted to march over there and say something, defend her friend who'd been through so much already. But before she could step forward, the girls finished fixing their makeup, still snickering as they left the bathroom.

As the door swung shut behind them, the room fell into an eerie silence. Y/N took a deep breath, steadying herself. She couldn't believe how insensitive people could be. Sidney didn't deserve to be gossiped about like that. Y/N knew her friend was still healing from everything with her mom, and the last thing she needed was people spreading rumors.

Lost in her thoughts, Y/N didn't notice the quiet footsteps that slipped into the bathroom until it was too late. She turned to leave, and as she did, her blood ran cold. There, in front of her, stood Ghostface, his dark robe blending into the shadows of the bathroom, his white mask glaring at her with empty eyes.

Her breath caught, and for a split second, she couldn't move, frozen by the terror that surged through her.

But Ghostface didn't wait. In an instant, he lunged forward, slashing at her with the gleaming knife. Y/N barely managed to stumble back, dodging the blade by inches, her back slamming against the cold tile wall.

"Help!" she screamed, her voice echoing off the bathroom walls, but the sound was muffled by the thick walls and the bustling noise of students in the hallway outside, oblivious to the danger within.

Ghostface advanced, relentless, the blade flashing in his gloved hand. Y/N ducked into one of the stalls, desperately trying to create distance. She slammed the stall door shut and locked it, her heart pounding as she backed up against the wall, praying the flimsy lock would hold.

The bathroom filled with an eerie silence, broken only by the sound of Ghostface's shallow, controlled breathing. She saw his shadow move, lurking just outside the stall door, waiting.

"Come on, Y/N," he said in a mocking, sing-song voice. "Why are you hiding? You didn't seem so afraid last night."

Y/N's heart raced even faster. He knew who she was. He had been watching her, targeting her. She forced herself to stay silent, holding her breath, hoping he would leave. But then, the stall door rattled as Ghostface kicked it, the lock groaning under the pressure.

The door buckled, and Y/N scrambled, ducking under the partition to the next stall just as Ghostface forced the door open. She crawled on the tile floor, her hands shaking, until she reached the far end of the bathroom. She pulled herself up, reaching for the window above the sink. If she could just get outside, maybe someone would hear her.

But before she could push herself up, Ghostface was there, blocking her path. She spun around, her back pressed against the sink, with nowhere else to run.

"Looks like you're trapped," he said, raising the knife. "Say goodbye, Y/N."

Just then, the bathroom door burst open, and the sound startled Ghostface, making him hesitate for a crucial second. A teacher stood in the doorway, alarmed at the scene.

"Hey! What's going on in here?" the teacher demanded, rushing forward.

Ghostface glared at Y/N one last time, a silent promise in his eyes, before he turned and bolted out the door, vanishing down the hallway.

Y/N collapsed against the sink, gasping for breath as the teacher hurried over to her, asking if she was okay. Her body shook, adrenaline flooding her veins. She'd narrowly escaped, but she knew this wasn't over.

As she made her way out of the bathroom, escorted by the teacher, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that Ghostface was still watching, lurking somewhere in the shadows, waiting for another chance.
