The empty classroom felt oddly quiet, the kind of silence that made every little movement sound louder than it should. Y/N stood near one of the desks, still catching her breath from running, while Billy leaned casually against the teacher's desk like none of this was unusual.

"You really ran all the way here for nothing," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Y/N rolled her eyes, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "Don't remind me."

For a moment, neither of them said anything. The quiet stretched between them, heavier than before. Y/N shifted her weight, suddenly very aware that they were alone.

Billy's expression changed slightly—less joking now, more focused. He stepped closer.

"Billy—" she started, unsure what she was about to say.

He didn't answer. Instead, he closed the small distance between them and leaned in, pressing a quick kiss to her lips.

Y/N froze for half a second, caught off guard.

Then reality hit.

She immediately pushed him back, her hands firm against his chest. "What are you doing?" she said, her voice sharp with disbelief.

Billy looked at her, unfazed. "What does it look like?"

"It looks like you just kissed me," she snapped, taking a step back. "You're dating Sidney."

The name hung in the air.

Billy's jaw tightened slightly, but he didn't respond right away.

"She's my friend," Y/N continued, her voice quieter now but just as firm. "You can't just—do that."

Billy sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not that simple."

"It is that simple," Y/N shot back. "You don't kiss other people when you have a girlfriend. Especially when that girlfriend is someone I care about."

He stepped closer again, but this time she didn't move toward him.

"You don't get it," he said.

"Then explain it," she replied.

Billy hesitated, like he was deciding how much to say. "Things with Sidney... they're complicated."

Y/N crossed her arms. "That doesn't make this okay."

He didn't argue with that—but he didn't apologize either.

The tension between them shifted, no longer confusing—just uncomfortable.

Y/N shook her head, grabbing her bag off the desk. "I'm not doing this," she said. "Not to her."

Billy watched her, his expression unreadable.

"You should probably figure out what you want," she added, heading toward the door, "before you hurt someone who actually trusts you."

She paused for a second, then pushed the door open and stepped out into the hallway.

The noise of students and lockers slammed back into her ears, breaking the silence she had just left behind.

Y/N didn't look back.

Because no matter how confusing things felt, one thing was clear—

Sidney didn't deserve that.

And Y/N wasn't about to be part of it.
