Chapter Forty-Five
TuscanyI woke up the next morning on the couch in the living room, still in my wedding dress. Chris was right next to me still in his tux, his tie lying on the floor next to him and his shirt unbottoned a few extra buttons. His hair was a mess but he still looked great. We came home from the wedding last night completely wiped and I guess we fell asleep right there. Chris pulled a classic and carried me through the door and we lied down on the couch to watch a movie and we fell asleep before I could even get changed.
I stood from the couch and took a much needed stretch. I shifted my dress so it sat right on me and walked up to our bedroom. I grabbed comfy clothes and went to take a shower. I slowly drifted off into my own little world as the hot water cascaded down my shoulders and relaxed me and my stiff neck. I was brought down from my cloud of thoughts by my husband banging on the door.
"Nicole honey, are you alright in there? You've been in there for like an hour" his voice was still groggy.
"Yeah I'm fine"
"Did you take a trip to Nicoletown?" He laughed.
"Yeah why else would I be in the shower for so long?" By this time he was in the bathroom brushing his teeth.
"Because you were waiting for me to join you" he smirked after he spit toothpaste in the sink.
"The toothpaste made that whole sentence" I laughed while sticking my head out from behind the shower curtain.
"Sexy right?" He chuckled leaning over to kiss me. I reluctantly kissed him back and ended up with toothpaste all over my face.
"Ew" I muttered washing my face off with the shower water.
I turned off the water and grabbed my towel off the rack. I dried myself off in the shower and dried my hair as well as I could and wrapped the towel around me. I stepped out of the shower and for some reason, Chris was shirtless.
"Where'd your shirt go?" I asked kissing his cheek.
"It vanished" he smiled bringing me into his bare chest. He swayed back and forth and I closed my eyes, practically going limp in his arms.
"Pass me my clothes?" I asked quietly.
He reached over on the counter and handed me my yoga pants and Chris's big Hollister hoodie.
"Why do you always wear my clothes?" He smiled "not that I don't like it"
"Because they're comfy" I lightly pressed a kiss to the bottom of his jawline.
"Well it's a good thing you look cute in them, otherwise I would be forced to keep you from wearing them" he kissed my temple "now get changed Mrs. Garrett"
Hearing him say that gave me butterflies. I liked my new name. Nicole Garrett and Christopher Garrett.
"Then go away" I said pushing my way to my bedroom and bringing him to the door "it's nothing personal"
"Really? Cause it feels personal" he laughed as I slammed the door in his face.
I had managed to get my bra and panties on when Mr. Garrett himself walked in.
"How aren't you dressed yet?" He asked picking me up by the waist and turning me around so I was facing him.
"I was attacked by a wildebeast" I said showing him where I hip-checked the island the other day. It was bruising really nicely.
"Yikes. That doesn't look good darlin" he said, mostly fake concern written on his face.
"If you think that's bad, you should see the wildebeast" I laughed.
"That's my girl" he laughing kissing me "are you sure that isn't from when you went to get the popcorn out of the microwave the other day and you ran into the countere on your way to the couch?" He smirked.
"No, that story describes me as being too much of a couch potato-" he looked at me with a smile on his face "fine. There was no wildebeast and you were right as to where it was from"
"That sounds more like you" he smiled.
"Yeah yeah don't rub it in" I laughed pushing him off of me.
"Well whether you like it or not, I love you for you, couch potato or not" he laughed pulling my back into his chest as I tried to walk away"
"Whatever" I said pulling his sweater over my head.
"Now, as our first day as husband and wife, I believe that Netflix is calling our names" he said taking my hand.
"And that is why I love you Christopher Garrett"
We weren't leaving for our honeymoon in Italy for another week so Chris and I were just relaxing at home until then. We had tons of wedding gifts to unwrap and put away but even though we knew it had to be done, we were both too lazy to actually do it.
We had Jas put into a kennel for the three days surrounding the wedding and we were going to pick him up tomorrow. Chris and I wanted some privacy after the wedding.
******************
It was August twenty-seventh and Chris and I were packing to leave for Italy in the morning. Jas was home with us and we were leaving him with Addison and Ryan for the week that we were gone. I felt bad for not being with him a lot since the wedding but Chris and I were busy either planning the wedding or the honeymoon.
Chris and I were renting a house in Tuscany for the week which was really nice and overlooked a vineyard. It was also surprisingly cheap. It really was a romantic place I mean Italy has gorgeous scenery and amazing food and wine. It was the perfect honeymoon destination and being as we've already been to Paris, Tuscany was perfect. Great food, great wine and my great husband.
