BARCELONA - PEDRALBES DISTRICT (Isabella's Mansion)

The morning light poured through the glass walls of the mansion, illuminating the white marble floors in a way that felt almost too calm for what had happened less than a day ago.

Outside, Barcelona moved like nothing had changed. Inside, everything had.

Isabella stood at the long marble island in the center of the room, one hand resting against the cold surface, the other holding her phone loosely.

She hadn't touched the coffee beside her.

She hadn't slept.
And yet, there was no visible sign of weakness in her posture - only control.

Matthew Theodore Sinclair watched her from across the room, leaning slightly against the wall with his arms crossed.

His shirt was still half-buttoned, sleeves rolled up, like he hadn't fully transitioned into the day. But his attention was sharp. Focused entirely on her.

Matthew:
"You're doing that thing again."

Isabella didn't look up.

Isabella:
"What thing."

He pushed himself off the wall and walked closer, slow, measured, careful not to startle her - though they both knew that wasn't possible.

Matthew:
"Pretending you're fine."

A faint pause followed. She finally lifted her gaze to meet his.

Isabella:
"I am fine."

Matthew let out a quiet breath, shaking his head slightly as he reached for the untouched coffee and glanced at it before setting it back down.

Matthew:
"You were in surgery yesterday."

Isabella:
"And today I'm not."

The answer came too quickly. Too clean. Like it had been rehearsed.

Before he could respond, the doors opened behind them.

Enry walked in first, already alert, already aware.

William followed, his presence immediately shifting the energy in the room.

They both looked at Isabella.

Then at Matthew.

Then back at her.

William:
"You got the message."

Matthew's attention snapped toward him instantly.

Matthew:
"What message."

Isabella didn't answer. Instead, she turned the phone slightly and placed it on the marble between them.

William stepped closer and read it without a word.

Enry leaned in just enough to see.

Matthew reached for it last.

The message was short.

Simple.

Come home, Isy.
- Matías

Matthew's jaw tightened as he looked up.

Matthew:
"...he calls you that?"

Isabella didn't react.

Isabella:
"Yes."

Matthew:
"I don't like it."

For a split second, something almost resembling amusement crossed her face. Then it disappeared.
