My day started like a casual Monday - lots of paper work and Ms. Heithan flirting with me, but I never took my turn to flirt with her as well, even though I sometimes though about it, but I am not here to mess with people's love lives. I'm here to watch them - and probably fix them.

Ms. Heithan was one of the many people who had a really 'interesting' love life. She went out a lot of guys and nearly every day there was another man to call and ask for her. She was a female player, which leaded to the fact that she wanted to hook up with me even more the more I ignored her flirting.

I wanted to get rid of this problem, so on this Monday I sat down at my desk and started looking through one of those dating websites. I was looking for a perfect partner for Ms. Heithan. Someone she could get old with.

No. No. No. Ugh. No. Still no...no-...wait.

I found the profile of a man who was 39-years-old, looked friendly and who didn't live far from here. I contacted him and at lunch time we met up. That's when I took him to Ms. Heithan and introduced them to each other.
I couldn't figure out what they were talking about as they were in her office but I was sure she was interested in him - I got a sixth sense for that.

In the evening they left the building together and took one car to somewhere else, probably her or his home.
My job was done for today and all I could do now was waiting.

The next few days passed quickly and I knew Ms. Heithan was still together with her new lover, Aiden. He sent her gifts or roses everyday and sometimes he visited her.

They were so...cliché.

Until that one day everything was fine. That one day she didn't get flowers or gifts anymore. That one day, I swear, she looked like she was about to kill me.

Paula stormed into the building and right to my desk. She leaned her hands on it and looked down at me. She looked furious. Her eyes were bloodshot and her normally perfectly styled hair was greasy and slightly tousled.

"You are the worst match-maker ever." She declared.

Me. Cupid. 'Worst match-maker ever'. I should add that to my biography.

I could only bare to raise an eyebrow "How come?"

"Aiden is married!" She walked away to her office, her feet stomping on the floor. She stopped at the door and turned to look at me. "And he has two children!" She added and closed the door.

Fuck.

At this point I have to say sorry for swearing but that's all I could think at this moment.
I made her love life even more complicated and he probably even broke her tiny stony heart. I felt like I lost some of my magic.

I knew I'd have to make that up somehow so I decided to contact Aiden. I knew I also needed to apologize to Ms. Heithan but first I wanted to tell Mr-I-am-actually-married that his behaviour was absolutely inappropriate, or like humans would say: he's a douche.

We sat up a meeting at a small park and at 2pm we met up there.

Before I could say anything Aiden already blurted out "Ok, you need to listen to me. All this is a big misunderstanding." I tilted my head slightly and he continued "I am married and I have children but my wife and I are going to divorce. We sign the papers in a few days and then I am officially single. I didn't plan on cheating on anyone or something like that. I'm a good guy, I swear."

"Oh." It was much information and I wasn't sure if I should trust him but I knew how I could find out if it's true. "I would like to hear that from your wife as well."

He nodded quickly and pulled his mobile phone out of his pocket. After talking with his with for a short time he held the phone to me.

"Hello."

"Hello. I'm Theresa." a soft female voice answered. "Aiden's wife." She added.

"Ok, nice to talk to you. So, Theresa, I just wanted to know if it's true that you and Aiden are going to divorce." I said, but it sounded more like a question.

"Yes, it's true. Why are you interested in that?"

"Because of a friend. Thank you, Theresa." I held the phone back to Aiden, who talked with her a few words afterwards and then put his phone back in his pocket.

Now I knew the truth and I knew I needed to convince Ms. Heithan to give him another chance.
