A lot has changed - I became popular to human beings.

The campaign of Heithan's was known all over earth and on the internet I got everyday more and more requests to help someone find their soul mate.
Whenever someone who had heard of me met me by coincidence they called me by my real name, Cupid. First it was odd to me, but I quickly got used to it - the only thing that is still strange is that Gabriel didn't talk to me about this. Generally, I didn't see any of my brothers or sisters this month - except for Aleisa.

This was probably the most important month of my life. If I would have known back then that I would have shot an arrow right now then I probably would have flipped out. I would have tried everything to avoid this, but you can't avoid the future. There's a plan for all our lives which no one knows about, not even god. He may have created all of us, but he gave this one job to someone else. He gave it to Zaphkiel, Marmaroth, Manu, Poiel and Sauriel.

Zaphkiel, Marmaroth, Manu and Poiel cared about the destiny of human beings. Jelial it there for the fate of kings and other rulers. Sauriel was there to seal the fate of angels who had gone astray of god's way. There was another angel who cared about our destiny, the destiny of angels, but no one knows his name. Our father was afraid we might force him to tell us our purpose in life so we know which role we are playing for the universe, but he didn't want us to know so he kept it as a secret.

I for one was happy with my job to make humans fall in love. It was something productive. We were there to care about humans and to protect them which worked great for thousands of years until our father gave us a free will as well.

Before we had always been controlled and did what we were told to, but when we were allowed to do whatever we want to some of my siblings simply leaned back and watched human life like one of those soap operas. They turned their back on them and cared about their own lives. Fortunately there are angels like me. Angels who still care about humans and would even die for some of them.

Yes, we can die while we are on earth but not while we are at home.

Duh.

Run in a car and you are dead. Jump off a cliff and don't fly - you're dead. Drink poison and you are dead. We die just like humans do - except from starving or thirst. We don't need to eat, drink, sleep, poop or have social contact. Though we like to eat, drink and sleep - and personally I also like having contact to humans.
When we die we don't get reborn, we go to heaven. The heaven for humans not the one for angels, which is our home. Logically there is always and exception - Azrael. Azrael can walk in and out of human heaven whenever she wants to. She is constant guest at the empire of death, because she is Death. She can't die.

But I'm wandering off the topic.
I wanted to talk about being popular.

Often I got recognised by strangers on the street. Sometimes because of the advertisement and sometimes because of myself - being a match-maker.

Ann and I barely had contact by now. She was about to move in with Gale and I was busy with my job. I had accomplished more within a month on earth than in thousand years in heaven, but still there was something missing about their love. I wasn't able to create real love without my bow.

Without my bow I was just a human with wings - a partly socially awkward one.

Well, this partly socially awkward human with wings, me, got a message one day. The profile of the consignor didn't contain a real name, neither a picture nor did it show the gender of the person. It was totally anonym and the less I knew the more I was interested in it - curiosity.

I reread the message which said that the sender wants to meet me today 2pm at the Bryant Park.

Since I was a spontaneous angel I got up and walked to my wardrobe. I grabbed my light brown coat and put it on before checking quickly myself in the mirror beside the front door and leaving the building because it was getting cold outside by now.

It hadn't snowed yet even thought there were only two days to go until it was Christmas, but everything was decorated already.
I could absolutely understand why human beings loved this time of the year so much. It was cold and the smell of hot punch was in the air. Each shop window was dressed with light chains and glowing stars or reindeers. They even put small Christmas trees in there. Some men dressed as Santa Claus were wishing you "Merry Christmas" when you walked past them and other people were trying to sell chestnuts or Santa hats. It was a quiet and beautiful time. Some people were stressed finding presents but others met up with family members or friends which they hadn't seen for months. It was the period of reflection - as the saying goes.

I thought it was easy to enjoy such things while walking down the streets, but some people only rushed by the beauty and magic of Christmas - if only I could slow down the speed of this planet and everything would pass by in slow motion so they could take some time to enjoy life. So they could sit down with their parents and have a cup of coffee with them or talk with neglected friends. If only I could make their life nicer, better - enjoyable.

I knew this isn't possible. I knew I wouldn't be able to change the world, but I would be able to change the life of a few - probably that's why I met up with that person. That's why I had so much trust in humanity, because they only needed help.
