I explained to Brea how finding her soul mate would work and I told her that I can't make their love "real" anymore, still she wanted me to look for someone. It goes without a saying that I accepted her plea.
We kind of agreed that I should enjoy Christmas and celebrate it properly, even though I didn't want to but she insisted on it. Afterwards I would start looking for her one and only.
This time I didn't forget to give her my telephone number - I wasn't drunk - and then I hugged her goodbye and both of us went back to our homes.
Two days later it was Christmas finally. The day where humans celebrate the birth of Jesus or the day I used for sitting at home and watching television. Christmas movies or songs were playing on each channel and slowly I got bored. I took a look at the clock which was hanging on the wall and sighed. It was only 1pm and I had no idea on what to do the whole day, so I took the remote control and looked for an interesting movie, but still I couldn't find anything.
I was just about to switch channels again as I heard a familiar sound - my phone was ringing. I jumped up after pressing the "Mute"-button on the remote and followed the noise to the kitchen. There I saw my mobile phone on the black wooden kitchen counter and picked it up. Aleisa was calling so I pressed the green symbol to accept the call.
Without greeting me or having any small talk she immediately got to the point "I heard you are alone on Christmas, wasting your time."
Great.
"Wasting my time? Wait. How do you even know what I am doing?" I questioned and sat down on the counter.
"Our siblings are constantly watching you and since I am your helper they immediately tell me everything you are doing, and I don't like the thought that you are all alone on Christmas. So, as your helper and friend, I'm telling you to get up and celebrate Christmas."
"And how should I do that? I don't have a family here and I didn't make a lot of friends either."
"I know, but I'm sure you'll find someone to spend your day with or just spread some Christmas mood out there - give something to those who have nothing. You'll get it, just go outside. I have to hang up now - my family is already waiting. Bye, Cupid, and merry Christmas." In the background I heard someone little kids before she hung up.
Her "family". Kids. We are her family and Aleisa should actually know best that angels and humans aren't allowed to make a baby. If one of our siblings would know about this then her wings would get ripped off and her children would get killed, which sounds quite risky to me especially because it hurts terribly when you lose your wings. All of us heard Lucifer's screams as he fell.
Nevertheless I did what Aleisa told me to, I went outside.
It still hadn't been snowing until now but it was cold on the streets and whenever you breathed out little smoke-like clouds formed in front of your mouth.
I didn't know what to do or where to go so I just wandered along the street. The lights in some shops were still on and in the distance I heard some music. I followed the sound of "Silent night, holy night" to a small church. In front of the church was a giant Christmas tree with red decoration and white lights on it and a lathy stone path lead to the entrance door of the building.
It was possible to hear the music more clearly now and I made my way to the door but at the middle of the path I stopped walking as I heard a voice coming from beside me.
"Young man, would you help an old man like me?" a white bearded man in filthy clothes who was sitting beside the Christmas tree with a blanket covering his legs, looked pleading at me.
I looked at the church for a second and then I walked through the grass to the old man. I crouched down in front of him "What are you doing here? It is terribly cold."
He coughed and afterwards he laughed quiet "It is but were should I go? I don't have a place to stay."
"I don't understand. What about your house?" I replied confused.
The man shook his head "You know that some people don't own a house, do you?"
I frowned and shook my head in disbelief and astonishment. I pulled my wallet out of my pocket and unfolded it to pull out 100$ and handed it to the man "Stay in a hotel and get yourself something to eat." I smiled encouraging at him.
He looked at me with an open mouth. Then he shook his head "This appears to be a mistake - you gave me 100$."
"Oh, I'm sorry." I excused myself and held another 100$ to him. "I don't know how much a hotel room cost."
"No. This-...this-...I can't believe you are doing this." the man smiled and tears of joy built in his eyes.
I took his arm and placed the money in his hand "A friend of mine will find and take care of you then so you get a nice place to stay at."
A few tears streamed down his face and he took my hand in his hands "Thank you so much! God bless you. You are definitely an angel sent by god."
I smiled and got up "Merry Christmas." Then I started walking away and heard the man wishing me a Merry Christmas as well before I stepped back on the street and walked along the pavement.
I walked a few minutes and suddenly I felt something light and cold landing at the tip of my nose. I looked up to the sky and first I only saw some rather dark clouds but then I realized snowflakes were falling down. My sister, Cathetel, the angel of nature often did such things when she was touched by something humans did and this time it seemed she was happy about something I did. She was one of the few angels who still cared about humans.
While walking I thought about what the man had told me - not everyone owns a house. Some people have nothing, but obviously most human beings are too greedy to share with them. They needed their help but no one helped. No one understand that happiness isn't owning a lot of money or having a big house and not caring about others - that's ignorance. Happiness is seeing the smile one someone's face who has nothing. Some say sharing is caring and it definitely is but furthermore caring shows humanity and that's what is missing these days. So tell me one thing, what are humans without humanity?
