Louis didn't go home much while he was at the hospital. He had been home two or three times to do laundry and grab things, but the most he did was have a cry before heading back to the hospital yet again. He brought her flowers each time, and she always appreciated it.
Plenty of people visited her while she was in the hospital of course, and even as tired as she was she was always thrilled and grateful to see them. Lottie was there a lot, and Harry even visited a couple times, usually to bring Louis something like a new razor but it was always nice to have company.
As usual she slept a lot, and so Louis sat in the recliner and worked or chatted to whoever had been visiting that day. Louis himself looked exhausted of course, not that he would admit it. It had only been a couple weeks but his hair had begun to appear messier and dark circles under his eyes more evident. Yet, he was hanging on all the same.

Louis yawned and stretched carefully. As tired as he still was, that recliner had made a surprisingly good spot to sleep. Then again, his time in One Direction had kind of trained him to sleep anywhere.
He looked over to where his mum was and smiled. Typically she still slept a couple more hours, but today she was awake and sitting up, reading out of her book.
"Morning mum," Louis said, getting up and coming over to kiss her gently on her head.
"Morning Lou," She smiled.
"Good book?" He asked, trying to make conversation. He hadn't seen her read it in a few days so that was nice to see.
She nodded, "Very. I'm excited to see how it ends."
"Well I'll leave you to it then," Louis smiled, "I'm going to go change and find something to eat, but I'll be back in just a minute."
Louis dug a T-shirt and some joggers out of his bag and went down to the bathroom where he changed. He stopped back into the room to throw his dirty clothes back into his bag before promptly leaving again. He went down to the cafeteria to grab breakfast—an egg sandwich—and then headed back up to his mums room to eat with her.
When he returned she was eating, and she must've had her medicine and everything because the nurse was just leaving. He pulled up the chair beside her bed and unwrapped his own sandwich, both eating silently. Once finished they chatted animatedly about nothing and everything. Old acquaintances, shared memories, the like really. It was quite nice.
"You want to play Uno?" Louis asked after a while.
Johannah shrugged, "Yeah that'd be nice actually. Don't you have work to do though?"
"Not really," Louis said, getting up to dig the cards out of his bag, "I've got everything with a deadline finished up with my label and my manager and everyone, so it's really just music work and I'm kind of at a roadblock as far as some of that goes," he shrugged.
They played quite a few rounds until lunch time. Louis lost the majority of the time, but he thoroughly enjoyed himself all the same.
Louis quickly went back down to the cafeteria to get something for lunch—another sandwich—and then back up again to his mum where she had begun eating.
It was very bland, but then again it was hospital food and it was Monday so he couldn't really complain too much. Still, it was nice spending so much time with his mother.
After they ate they continued a few more games when Louis' phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out where he saw a text from Harry: "Hey just wanted to check how things were going, everything going alright?"
