Erika's POV
Walking on the beach, I hear my name being called by a small female voice. I turn around but no one is there. I continue to hear the voice and try to find where it's coming from. I turn and don't see anything, but the voice continues to call my name. I try following the voice and realize it's leading me into the forest. I look around hesitating before I hear my name being called again. Feeling like I have no choice, I go into the forest, following the voice.
As I walk further into the forest, I start to hear more than one voice calling my name.
"Erika, Erika! Erika." My name is yelled, whispered and sighed all by the voices of women.
I continue to follow the voices till I come to a clearing beside a river. I notice three cloaked figures standing across the river. Each figure has a different color cloak. The one on the right has a deep red, almost maroon, the middle one has a navy-blue cloak and the one on the left has a dark green cloak. All three of them seem to be watching me. The cloaked figures on the ends are holding what look like staffs with crescent moons on top.
"Erika." They said together. I can't see their faces through the shadows of darkness the hoods provide.
"He's you're destiny." The one in the green said.
"Don't run from him." said the one in the blue.
"Help him." they said together.
"But beware." The one in the red said.
"Danger is coming for you." They said together before disappearing from my eyes.
My eyes fly open as I sit up in a panic and I realize it's just a dream. Looking around I notice I'm in my room with the curtains drawn. Sighing, at least I didn't have the dream with the giant being in it.
I get out of bed and walk to the window and open it, blinding myself by the bright light that shines into the room.
Looking out at the ocean in my pajama shorts and tank top, I notice the ocean is a dark blue today. My thoughts slowly drift to the strange dream that I had.
Who were they talking about? Who was I supposed to help? And what danger did they mean?
I know I shouldn't take dreams so literal, but sometimes your dreams tell you things you never realized could be true. And even though it seemed like a dream, it felt so real.
Who are those hooded women?
I sighed, just more questions that I'll probably never get the answers to.
Closing the curtains, I walk to my bags and grab a white tank top and beige shorts and quickly change into them. The weather is hot here and the white and beige would keep me cool compared to the darker colors I'd wear back home.
I walked down the hall to the dining room to find something to eat. When I walk in Gordon is sitting at the table alone, staring at his plate. He's wearing a white t-shirt and brown pants with brown sandals.
"Where is everyone?" I question. It's strange that Sophie isn't around but even more so that Cam isn't here. He always seems to turn up from some dark corner of a room. But it's kind of nice without them. I can talk with Gordon and not have someone glaring at me.
"Sophie is still sleeping and Cam," he paused, lost for words. "Is out. He went for an early morning run." It seems like he's lying but why, I wasn't sure.
"Erika, just so you know, the island isn't safe. I wouldn't go anywhere out of the village without someone with you." He spoke with a serious look on his face and I wonder what's out there. I get the impression that he's speaking from experience. "Sometimes your questions are better left unknown."
