Erika's POV

Jumping was such a bad idea but there was no way I was staying up on that cliff. Jumping was my only choice. But I regret jumping as soon as I do it.

As I fall, I somehow turn myself around to face the cliff. I see a large figure leaning over the edge before turning back. The figure was too large to be Logan. What is that thing?

Suddenly I hit water, but I never submerge. I can feel the water soak through my pants. I find myself sitting on a wave and Sophie standing on it.

"Remember?" she asks showing me her wrist. "I control water. I can't control it for long, so we have head to shore."

She manipulates the water, swirling her hands around and we start moving towards the shore. As we move towards the shoreline, I hear a roar from on top of the cliff and notice the wind pick up severely, making clouds form and thunder crack in the sky.

"He's not happy." Sophie mutters beside me as she lowers us to the shoreline on the beach.

When we reach the sand, Sophie falls to her knees and turns around to sit on her butt looking out at the ocean, breathing heavily. Sitting down beside her, I rap my arms around her and hold her to my side and she snuggles in. I look out at the ocean with her.

After a moment, I notice we can be easily spotted. "We should find a place to stay till sunrise." I tell her looking around us.

"The rocks by the driftwood could easily hide us." Sophie says pointing towards large rocks behind us. I nod and we head over to the rocks and sit down knowing that we won't be seen if someone comes looking.

"Sophie, what was that thing in the woods?" I ask and I know she understands what I'm talking about when she tenses up beside me.

"It's not my secret to tell. All you need to know is that it won't hurt you."

"Then why did we run from it?" I wonder.

"Because I didn't want him to see me." I give her a look raising my eyebrows. "I'm sorry Erika, I know you are confused but I promised long ago. I can't tell."

I sigh, "It's okay, you don't have to tell me. To be honest, I don't think I want to know. This assignment seems to be more trouble than it's worth."

"Erika, can I tell you a story?" she asks, sitting closer to me.

"Sure."

"Well, I was told this story when I was a little younger. They say that there was once a prince that ruled the land. He was charming, witty and brilliant but he was also abusive, cruel and rude. He had ideas that the people he ruled over didn't agree with. Over time, people started to wonder if he was really fit to rule. You see, the prince had a sad past that made him the cruel man that he was.

"One night when the castle was hosting a ball, crowds of women came but there was one woman that caught the prince's eye. She was beautiful with blonde hair and baby blue eyes. However, she wasn't what she appeared to be and in time the prince had wronged her like he'd done to everyone else. In a sense, that was the last time the prince was truly himself.

"They say that the prince became cursed and was scared to show his face to his people after what happened. Little did he know that his people became cursed as well. The beautiful girl put a curse on the prince along with his kingdom and she told him that one day the curse would break in the most unexpected way.

"He and his people lived with the curse, knowing that one day, they would be free." She told the story with so much emotion, it almost feels like she lived it.

"You're really good at telling stories." I tell her and she smiles at me and snuggles closer. Soon she falls asleep with her head on my shoulder. Time passes by and soon the sun rises. "Sophie." I shake her gently awake. "We should start heading back, the sun is rising." I tell her and she nods at me, rubbing her eyes.
