Chapter 1:

Climbing out of my cot I pulled on my dark blue dress, which had cuts and ties in the necessary places in order to caper [A/N means dance or move, another way of saying that she controls the element(in this case water). I didn't want to rip off those other books or shows. :)] with water. The dress's sleeves stop just above my elbows and the length of the dress goes to a little past midcalf. I pull back my waist length brown curls and put it into a messy bun, then lace up my leather boots, which stop midcalf.

I glance down at the bowl of water I have sitting right by the entryway to my tent. My blue eyes show my excitement for my 16th year of age. My mouth is in a wide grin and loose curls fall from my bun as I rush out of the tent to the village.

On my way to the stream, that cuts through the village, I get many "Hello"s and "Hey Alivia!"s. I respond everytime with much eargerness laced in with my joyful tone. I arrive at the stream and kneel down on the bank. Placing my hands, palms down, into the water helps my concentration. If you think and focus enough you can feel the movement of water for miles around.

Water runs up my arms and forms a second skin. I let out a breath then stand up and start the move I have been trying to teach myself. It is similar to an elaborate dance. By habit, I get lost in the move and don't hear the steps behind me. I feel hands snake around my waist and pulls me around.

Water splashes to the floor as I am consumed in a deep kiss. I pull away and look up to the face I can spend hours looking at. Diomedes. He is one of the only earth capers in the Water Islands. He has the rough features and a sharp jaw that makes him look dangerous and attractive. Diomedes's family came to stay at the village this year as a peace treaty between the nations. All the girls of the village strive for his attention, but few achieve it. Me being one of the few who has.

"Hey," I say slightly breathless from the kiss.

"Hey," he says then pulls me into a tight hug that is followed by another kiss, but a more intense one.

He pulls away then leans his forhead against mine. I leaned in to him waiting impaitently. He pressed his lips against mine roughly and slowly traced my lips with his tongue. I moaned and arched my back pressing myself closer to him. He pulls away again.

He chuckles then smirks at me before starting to walk away. I sprint off behind him. He slowly walks into the forest near the river; I follow him. The further he goes in, the darker the forest becomes and I soon find myself standing alone. "Diomedes?" I ask a bit worried.

Never a one for surprises I walk over to a tree. I am about to sit down when I get shoved up against the trunk by a giant wall of earth. I look around, but the forest is only getting darker.

I yank my left hand from my encasement and focus to find the heat from in myself. I remebered when I first found out about my fire.

*flashback*

The water rose from the lake. Jonathan, this very mean boy from the villaage that constantly abused me, walked up to me and smacked the orb of water I had floating. I got furious at him for ruining my hours of work. I stood up, walked towards Jonathan and punched his face. I turned away but at last second he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him. There was a red mark on his face the size of my fist and he didn't look happy. I was starring at him and soon my vision was blurry and my face stung. He had slapped me. My hair protested as he yanked it.

Minutes seemed like days the more he abused me, like always. By the time he walked away, I was a bloody, rag doll covered in bruises. I layed for hours till I had the strength to walk and when I did my whole body protested. I got up still and started walkning home. On my way home I saw Jonathan and my anger started to swell. I wanted to walk up to him and make his life hell, but I remembered that my uncle told me never to let go off anger.

At the time I didn't know that I had fire and anger caused you to loose control of it. So, I ran home and went straight to my room... still pent up with anger, I punched the wall. When I punched it I felt heat rush over my hands and I opened my eyes to find a hole in the wall I bit bigger thant my fist with charred wall around it.

*end of flashback*

I felt the heat corse through my hand once more.
