She wasn't even supposed to be on the dropship going down to Earth.
As the youngest zero-g mechanic on the ark (as well as an engineer but she wouldn't dare speak of it in Raven's presence), Althena Chen was tasked-along with other senior mechanics...

"I don't understand. How did Murphy get a gun?"
Finn asked the group huddled around Raven. Raven lay stretched across the metal table, one hand clamped over her side, sweat beading along her forehead.
"Long story," Bellamy replied.
"We got lucky," Raven groaned in pain. "If Murphy hit the fuel tank instead of me, we'd all be dead."
Clarke's head snapped up. "Wait, there's rocket fuel down there?"
"Makes sense," Thena crossed her arms. "The thrusters didn't fire properly on the descent."
"It's enough to make a bomb?" Clarke eyed the girl carefully.
Raven let out a weak breath. "Enough to build a hundred bombs... if we had any gunpowder left."
Bellamy cut in, "Let's get back to the reapers. Maybe, they'll help us?"
"Oh, I doubt it," Thena said dryly.
Bellamy looked at the girl beside him. She tilted her head towards the book, "Just look at them."
"Why not? The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?"
Clarke shook her head, "Not this enemy."
"We saw them," she added, voice firm. "Trust me, it's not an option."
"There's no time for this." Finn's voice sharpened with impatience. "Can she walk or not?"
Thena scowled, "In case you haven't noticed, she got shot. She obviously can't."
"We have to carry her," Clarke said.
"The hell you will," Raven pushed herself up from the table. "I'm good to go."
Thena pushed her back down on the table with a thud, "Stop moving."
Clarke leaned closer, her expression serious. "That bullet is still inside you. If by some miracle there's no internal bleeding, it might hold until we get somewhere safe, but you are not walking there. Is that clear?"
Raven exhaled sharply through her nose but didn't argue.
"I'll get the stretcher," Finn muttered, already heading for the door.
