Ashton
When I close my eyes and try to sleep
I fall apart, I find it hard to breath
You're the reason, the only reasonHe hadn't had an actual goodnight's sleep since long before he left. You weren't anything official, but the constant thought of you haunted him and he knew he'd never be able to escape his feelings for you. It was late at night and the rest of the boys were fast asleep in the house, well maybe not Michael, but for the most part it was silent. Ashton tip-toed around, ending up in the kitchen. He rummaged through the cupboards finally deciding to have a bowl of cheerios. After he settled at the small counter that only allowed one other person to sit with him, he starred for a moment at the empty stool and imagined you sitting next to him, like you had done many times before. Except, instead of being in a rented house with 5 other people, you would both me sitting on the counter of your kitchen apartment with the same bowl of cereal in your hands. You laughed and talked, letting time get away from you. Now, he couldn't do that with you, nor could he rid his mind of the thought of those moments shared. While he sat alone, eating his midnight snack, the counter began buzzing, catching him off guard. He set down the spoon and picked up the flashing device, much to his surprise, as if his mind and constant thought summoned it, the picture and name on the screen made him smile, forgetting all about his cheerios. "Hello?" He answered fast. "Hey Ash," Your voice was so calming on the other end, it immediately soothed him. "I couldn't sleep." There was a slight tone of laughter in your voice and he found himself nodding his head like you were there to see it, "Me too, I actually haven't been able to sleep for weeks." He told you, resting his elbows on the counter. "Same here." Silence. "Um, I miss you." You were the first to break the silence, you had to get the three words off your chest, they felt like 1000lb weights, holding you down. Ashton was relieved that you said it first though, "I miss you too, Y/N. So much you don't even know. I really think about you all the time." You bit your lip on the other end, smiling to yourself, "It's crazy isn't it?" You asked. "Hmm?" "How we miles away, but I had this feeling and I just had to talk to you-I don't know it's weird-" "No," He shook his head once more, "It's not weird at all, it's actually kind of perfect." You laughed slightly, "God it hurts so much missing you like this. I just need to see you again." "Then come out here." "Ashton, I can't do that, I have work and school, I can't just drop my life." "But I want to be your life, I want to be the one with you, and I know you want it too."
Michael
Don't talk, let me think it over
How we gonna fix this?
How we gonna undo all the pain?
Tell me is it worth it?A week straight of fighting and you thought by now, it would never end. The thought most recent one, ending only a few moments ago with Michael yelling at you to shut up. You had stopped dead in your tracks from pacing back and forth in the living room, your mind shut down and you felt the build-up of tears in your eyes. Your mouth fell open in awe of the words that just spilt from his mouth. Seconds of silence pass by, but it was only quiet on your end, Michael was still pacing and mumbling under his breath, his fists were clenched at his sides yet you had forgotten why you were fighting in the first place. As much as you tried, you couldn't help but let the tears fall down your cheeks. You brought your hands up to your face, burying your tears. Michael had stopped moving, turning towards you and face immediately softening. The one thing he hated most was seeing you cry, it really just tore him apart on the inside, and while you didn't do it often, he automatically knew that when you did, it was something serious. "Y/N, please don't cry," He rushed towards you, pulling your body tightly against his, it almost hurt how hard he pulled you into him. "Sh, please baby." He soothed you, rubbing your back, but with your head still in your hands, you sniffled and wiped your face, then pushed him away. Michael gave you a puzzled look that you ignored, "Do you see what you do to me?" You wiped your cheeks with a groan, "Do you see what this relationship does to us? It's toxic Michael." Your face was serious, you looked at him without second thought, "You and I both know that we can't keep doing this to ourselves if each and every time we fight it ends in a bad way. Michael it's always the same-" "Don't you think I know that? I know that when we fight it tears us apart even further?" He interrupted, talking with his hands, "You know why we keep going back? I know you do." You were silent, biting your fingernails on your left hand, eyes resting on the promise ring he had given you. He grabbed your hand, noticing where your eyes were and pointed to the ring, "I made you this promise, that I love you and I know I'm an ass at times, but I'm never going to break it."
