Chapter 15

***Mackenzie's POV***

"Are you guys ready?" Emily asked to the shaking boys. They nodded their heads without a word.

Emily, Harry, Liam, and I were on our way to audition Harry and Liam for the X Factor. They were so nervous.

I was driving all of us and Emily was trying to soothe both boys. We were getting close to the auditorium as they started to calm down. When we pulled in, the two just got excited. Smiles grew wide across their faces.

"Lets go get checked in then we will get in line." Liam said.

We walked over to the check-in-booth and hit the boys checked in. After that, we walked over and got in line.

"So what songs are you gonna preform?" Emily asked.

"Well I'm singing Cry Me A River." Liam stated.

''And I'm singing Isn't She Lovely because of our little performance on the canoe." Harry said excitedly.

"Oh my god that is the sweetest thing I've ever heard!" Mackenzie said. Harry looked happy at that comment.

We talked until we got to the front of the line. An awkward silence lingered over us until it was Harry's turn to audition.

***Harry's POV***

One of the workers back stage put a mic in my free hand. The other one was occupied by Emily's hand. I don't know why she hasn't let go because my hands were getting very clammy. Emily was the only one with me because Liam and Mackenzie had to stay outside.

"Harry Styles, get ready to go onstage in 30 seconds." The worker said.

Now I was really nervous and Emily noticed it. She got up on her tiptoes and kissed me on the cheek.

"For good luck." She said.

"Thanks." I replied. I kissed her softly until the worker whisked me away.

"I know you'll do great!" Emily's last words were after I walked onto the stage.

As soon as I walked out onstage the crowd started cheering.

'I got this' I thought.

When I got to center stage Simon started talking.

"Hello! What's your name and where are you from?" He asked.

"My name is Harry Styles and I am from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire." I stated shyly.

"Well hi! Now tell us something about yourself." Nichole said.

"I'm 16 years old and I work at a bakery." I respond.

"That's lovely. What song are you going to sing for us today?

"I'll do Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder." I replied confidently.

"Go ahead then." Louis said.

I started singing and I couldn't stop. I sang my heart out and when I stopped, I awesome. The audience was cheering loud. It felt good.

"That was amazing!" Nichole exclaimed.

The crowd cheered again. I replied with a smile.

"I agree with her. That was spectacular." Simon.

"Louis, what do you think?" Nichole asked.  

"Well to be completely honest, I wasn't very thrilled." He said. "You should consider singing lessons then come back."

The entire crowd reacted with boos.

"Hey guys I don't think he heard you." Simon said and they booed even louder.

"Boo." I said into the mic.

"Okay it's time to vote. Louis?"

"It's a no for me." He said.

"It's a yes for me." Nichole said.

"And you'll be happy to hear that I agree with Nichole. It's a yes! We will see you soon!" Simon finished.

I did a little happy dance and thanked the judges. I walked off the stage happily.

When I got backstage Emily ran into my arms and I spun her around. I was overjoyed. As soon as I put her down she automatically kissed me. We both pulled away and I smiled.

"You did absolutely fantastic!" She said.

"Only because of you. You're my good luck charm." I replied.

"That was really cheesy." Emily said laughing.

"That doesn't matter right now." I replied childishly. Then I grabbed Emily's hand and skipped out.

*****Liam's POV*****

I was standing outside of the audition area nervously waiting for Harry to finish. My hand was gripped tightly with Mackenzie's as we sat there patiently.

We sat in silence as thoughts were running through my head.  

What if Harry doesn't make it through? 

What if he makes it and I don't? 

Will we still keep in touch? 

How will we stay friends? 

Will Mackenzie still love me?

My thoughts were interrupted by an opening of the door in front of me. I looked up to see Harry and Emily waking through the door. I couldn't tell immediately if Harry had made it through and my stomach began to fill with knots. 

They both walked up to us with sad faces.  

"How'd you do?" Mackenzie asked.  

Tears came to Harry's eyes.  

"I...." He started then looked at Emily with big eyes. She looked back sympathetically.  

"Made it through!!" He yelled.
